❛ what? was there something you couldn’t say in front of your husband or mine? ❜ tongue is pressed to the inside of her cheek, it hadn’t been long enough for theo to run the drive and he sure as hell wasn’t doing it here if anything went wrong. she doubts margot is here to wait for the drive for an additional three hours.
I SHOULD LEARN TO BE MORE AFRAID OF DEATH—— she thinks haphazardly, like her soul is some misplaced object anyway. she decides this as a way to maintain a semblance of control is what she tells herself. the truth of the matter remains, kate does not fear death because she has spent too long peering into her own reflection. she sees it moving around inside of her, an invader. it is as real as every steady beat her heart takes in its cavity. something so profoundly integrated into her life. just simply, an inevitable. [ and i’ve had too many things taken from me to allow the end to steal more than just the last trembling breaths from my lips ] this is how she lives, swaying on the edge of consciousness and awareness. HOW THE HELL ELSE WOULD ANYONE SURVIVE THIS ISLAND?
mud coats her boots into thick trenches. the sun shines down in glorious ways off of the water at her side. it would be pretty if she could see through the sweat beads on her brow bone. ❝ what, did you come to see the view? ❞ finally, she addresses the footsteps of the hour. eyes narrow, slight grimace; kate austen, who prides herself in leaving everything up for interpretation, simply cannot hide the infamous expression from her mien. ❝ or are you followin’ me now too? ❞ / @nostqlgia + juliet , ♡ .
RUDDIED CHEEKS BLEED WITH WARMTH INTO HIS MOTHER’S HANDS... had he been crying? yes. regina had known him far too long to know so little of him, though his pride may keep him from conceding and admitting his tears. canting his cheek further into her palm, doe eyes stare upward at her, a heart broken thing in henry’s eyes laying curled in on it’s side; defeated. “ mom... “

a sigh. another glass in her hand; empty this time. fingers twirl it as if any kind of liquid would randomly appear out of nowhere. it’s not what she wants but it helps keeping her occupied. “ do you ever feel like the biggest disappointment in the world? ” silly question, doesn’t everyone feel that way at some point? maybe not, but in cecilia’s mind it is the case. so many things she has done wrong, so many things she is not enough for. “ i wonder what it would be like to disappear, to leave everything behind. and i know it’s wrong, i have a family. some days, it is just so tempting. ” / @nostqlgia ( random )
@nostqlgia sent : i wish i had something better to say, something more profound.
a child’s curiosity was not absent, with maisie harbouring questions that she had since accepted had answers that died along with her grandfather. truth was a winding road, startling her at every turn, leading her to the unknown and further away from all she knew. she had exhausted all questions of charlotte, her mother, that she could muster, taking in everything she could to understand. . . to know the woman she’s supposed to be, the mother she lost before she could ever claim to have a mother at all.
she wondered more, and more, until nothing remained to be discovered. ellie was the closest thing she had left, perhaps the only person she trusted that could bring her insight into the mystery that was charlotte lockwood. but even she could not offer the world of knowledge. “ you’ve already given me . . . so much. ” maisie had only known her mother as an idea, a story. the grounds of her existence. the smallest glimpse of the woman behind that meant more than anyone could comprehend. it gave maisie something real.
“ more than i’d ever thought i would have. thank you for that. ”
