A reply to the Shaving Ficlet got me thinking, like.
Of course Eliot uses a straight razor. Of course he does... when he's been given the time and sense of security in his surroundings and state of living that a longer grooming routine requires.
I look at him and I think primarily a very sleek very expensive travel electric razor for years, running jobs he may not have a lot of time for personal care on, but when it comes to what he LIKES, I just...
It feels like he prefers the closeness and control of a straight razor. Just seems right. Also... when it comes to things for himself, he tends to like stuff a little more old fashioned and romantic, though I don't think he'd admit that.
Ask him about why he prefers a straight blade and you'd probably get something like "better precision, good fine motor practice" and not the actual answer of "it kinda makes me feel fancy."
Because like. LOOK. The jewelry. The beads. The snazzy hats and dress shirts. The Look from the Runway Job.
Why is Eliot on the marble counter? He likes to be Fancy.
And now that he's in a Safe Space he's got room to do that.
