Thread Theory’s Comox Trunks - Girltrunks version
Finally! Finished up a full pair of the Comox Trunks that I altered to be more of a girltrunks style. This finished pair has a covered elastic waistband, zigzag topstitching, and a continuous front and back piece (no center seams across the crotch). There are a couple more things that I’d like to change for the next pair to make them fit a little better, but overall I’m super happy with them!
[ I’ll post more on what alterations I made to the pattern later on, so that other people can do the same if they’re interested. ]
Gonna make these!
That is my face. Those are my boots. I love my queer-ass self.
Feeling obligated to smooth my rough edges and compact myself into a gender binary-friendly female-presenting person makes me feel like that guy in the middle pic. “Oh, no, I’m so sorry, there’s been a mistake...Ohh, no, I’m sorry, there’s been a mixup...I don’t mean to be rude, but maybe you thought I was someone else?”
I’ve been flailing against this obstacle for a while now, and throwing myself against it in anger when I’m not compromising myself for it.
New tactic:
Over. Around. Under. Whatever it takes to circumnavigate this obstacle, that’s what I’ll do. Less ranting, more plotting.
On hold with the state. I need one question answered. It’s straightforward and I think it’ll take a minute, tops, to answer. I’ve been on hold for 58 minutes.
I decided to hem my pants at the same time. Although I like sewing I have always hated hemming. The list of things I have done to avoid hemming my pants include applying a new layer of 3″ masking tape at the beginning of each work day, stapling, safety pins, hem tape, rolling them up inside the leg and hoping they don’t fall down, and of course just plain cuffing them whenever I can get away with it. My coworker’s mother-in-law used to hem my pants for me in exchange for Wether’s candy. Mutually beneficial. Oh, and of course I will also just tack the hem up with 2-4 stitches and be VERY careful not to break them when putting them on.
"I know a few women [lists women we know] who handle their period like a boss. Like a person. You, one day maybe you'll make the list." Real-life proclamation made by a guy friend/housemate, completely out of nowhere.
Ohh, I don't handle my period in the way you want me to? Tell ya what. Sometime, when you least expect it, cause my period is unpredictable as hell, I'll sneak up on you. I'll gnaw my way through your stomach wall, grab your entrails in my fist, and I'll disembowel you slowly. Over the course of 3-14 days but you'll never be sure when it'll stop cause that's how my periods go. And, y'know, if you handle it as well as I handle my period then for as long as we know each other I'll pretend I am blood-free. Sound fair?
Yeah, that's what I thought. Go choke on an an infected dick.
And I will handle my self

Another reason why cats are my role models.
Crying softly because this comic urged me to write about my two sweet kitties. This was our life for ten years and it was wonderful. I miss them.
The moment when it becomes clear that my friend doesn't get cats.
Why, digestive system, why are you doing this to me? Is it because I did something to hurt you? Please tell me, this feels wretched. I'm so sad to be missing such a magical night with my coven. *deflates*
I’m going to establish myself as a writer who never writes straight relationships. Then, one fateful day, I’m going to introduce a straight couple. I will make them the healthiest straight relationship ever without ever saying they are a couple. I’ll keep it subtext most of the time. Still, they will be as well developed as my plethora of gay-ass characters. Then, just after subtext becomes maintext and they’ve finally admitted their feelings for one another and given in to those feelings
I’m going to kill one of them off for drama
When trains were introduced in the U.S, many people believed that that “women’s bodies were not designed to go at 50 miles an hour,” and that their “uteruses would fly out of [their] bodies if they were accelerated to that speed.”
I have so much respect for historical women not murdering every man they know
It sounds like a gruesomely exhilarating way to ditch your uterus while freaking out EVERY MAN ON THE TRAIN!
For me, being visibly queer is different from looking androgynous. Androgynous seems smooth, slender, and glossy. Flowing, elegant, socially acceptable, and almost pretty. I can’t pull that off. Queer seems more in your face. Androgynous can get dressed up and go to the Oscars. Queers protest outside the Oscars. Queers stick together.

“i don’t judge people based on race, creed, color, or gender. i judge people based on spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.”
i hate to burst your pretentious little bubble, but linguistic prejudice is inextricably tied to racism, sexism, classism, xenophobia, and ableism.
Not to derail the post but I have zero clue how sexism ties into this?? I agree with the rest though.
prejudice against uptalk, vocal fry, “valley girl” speech, etc. consider, for example, all the articles instructing women to change their speech patterns to be taken seriously by their colleagues and supervisors instead of questioning this discrimination against women’s speech in the first place. and here’s an interesting article on teen girls as “language disrupters.”
it was a huge eye-opener for me to see how infuriated men become when a woman denies them the most casual access to her body and mind.
I’m not even talking about women refusing to fuck men, though they obviously get mad about that too.
men will get mad if you say you only go through store lines with female checkers. they’ll get mad if you say you won’t stop to give a male stranger the time. they’ll get mad if you say you’d like to work in an all-female environment, even if, in reality, you can’t.
it fucking infuriates them that we even think about shutting them out of the smallest, most insignificant parts of our lives. they are mad because they think they have a right to interact with us at any time for any reason, and they think that perceived right trumps our right to choose with whom we interact.
I’ve found saying something as simple as “this conversation is over” when I’ve had enough of online debating is enough to incite full on rage from men in their 40s. If you hold them accountable for sexualizing girls or blaming them for being sexualized it’s enough to start a riot. God help you if you call them predators for that flat out. You will pubicly be called every stupid bitch there is and other grown ass men will ask for you as a woman to apologize for stopping all the fun of the conversation.
