2025 almost 2026 and I still have to read that "No, Akane isn't bisexual, why do you want to put a label on everything?". And that's funny because by that logic, why should we label hair as "red" or "brown" or "straight" or "curly", hair is hair, for heaven's sake.
No, I don't think it was Takahashi's intention to make Akane bisexual, it's just an interpretation, a key to understanding, but certainly not one which would distort the essence of the story, I mean, did you notice that queerness is a huge part of Ranma 1/2? Sure, there is no "activist intent" behind, it has to do more with Takahashi's amusement, her desire to make you laugh, but some time you can just feel there's something genuine in the mood she sets.
