Not Nikki is so tragic to me. Like, shes literally a being created with the express purpose of being in love with Bear. Her only motivation, her instinctual drive, is to be Bears perfect woman. But she cannot, by definition, be Bears perfect woman because Bears perfect woman is Nikki and Nikki is not in love with him. So she literally can't be what she was created to be.
In the first scene she's in she's confused and struggles to understand the circumstances, because she was literally just born with only a vague impression of Real Nikki to go off of.
She does all of these off putting things (watching Bear sleep, feeding him cat, standing in one place and soiling herself etc.) that Bear berates her for, but she literally has no way of knowing that they were off putting because she was, quiet literally, just born. And then instead of explaining what to do instead, Bear just tells her to "be normal" but she has no concept of "normal".
Even when she kills people, she has no moral compass because she hasn't been socialised to have one. She very likely doesn't know what a law is, never mind that killing someone is against the law. And, of course, the moral implication of killing someone (i.e ending their life, causing grief for their loved ones) doesn't occur to her because she's only thinking of Bear and being with him because that is what she was made to do.
