A RANT about AO3 (it's not what you think)

I first joined A03 last year, probably june? And i like the community there, it's a lot less toxic, like A LOT! Its healthy to join a community like that for a change.

Until earlier last june, I found a story that have the relationship tag that i actually like. Tho the story needs improvements, I still left the author a kudo (i rarely leave comments, but when i do, it's cringey as f*ck [insert overly dramatic captions]).

I found myself checking it every day (he\she updates a lot) and silently supports the author. I always check the comments section (idk why, I just felt like i should) until one day, some dirt bag commented that the story was trash. I felt annoyed, the author was obviously new and is trying his or her best to actually create a story that people would like. I wanted to leave a comment and defend the author but somebody already beat me to it so i just stayed silent.

Until another a'hole came up. This time nobody decided to defend the author, so I did. At first I tried the professional approach, but then as days goes by and different a'holes started coming up, i found myself being less professional and being more of an a'hole myself (i'm not proud of it).

I think some of the users there might probably think that I'm a jerk now since i started using curse words, sooooo that kinda ruined my reputation.... ('s not like there's anything to ruin in the first place)

The author have a lot of bashers on that story, up to the point where he\she started deleting the comments and moderating her comment section. I really feel bad, it's a good thing that he/she never stopped himself\herself to continue writing.

I love AO3, really, i always visit it every minute of every day. I just hope it doesn't turn toxic, there are only a few websites like that today.

If you don't like the story, then just leave, don't try and do an effort to leave a hate comment.

Honestly, the real world is in utter shit, and there's nothing for us to escape to anymore since the media itself is now a scary world.
