I have a nitpicky bone to pick with Three Men in Orbit by Sandra Bond. The opening sentence of the blurb on the back of the book describes it as "steampunk".

The well-meaning but accident-prone heroes of Jerome K. Jerome's much-loved classic Three Men in a Boat return to make cheerful nonsense of an Edwardian steampunk world.

It is not steampunk!

The only steam-powered technology is the train the protagonist takes at the very start of the book to get to the spaceport. There is no steam at any other point. The characters even have a conversation about how there's no steam-powered technology in the moon city because there's no coal on the moon.

It's a fun book and I enjoyed reading it, but don't call it steampunk, when there's no steam.

A good day

So it's not really related to all the steampunk and the like I normally have here, but I've got back from my first assessment from the gender clinic and I'm up for starting all my treatment as soon as my blood tests come through. Super happy about this, and can't wait to begin hrt. On a more serious note, quite a few of the staff who've been involved with all of this are EU nationals so I'm gonna be attending a March against brexit on saturday, these are happening around the UK, so if you can please go along and show your support.
