The other “order 66″
Commisar Judiths 12 Vostroian siege regiment had had enough. The random fighting that had sprung up from the holding pen of Inquisitor Kyraks lab and the surrounding enclosure of the 15th Catchan regulars had been something they could not ignore as per the orders of the newly arrived Dark Angel chapter in orbit.
As her skimmer made all speed towards the mountain research hub that made up the inquisitors base of operation Judith could hardly comprehend the amount of smoke, glowing blasts of plasma, and screams that traveled the horizon in seemingly all direction. She directed her driver towards the landing pad she had used earlier that week in a previous meeting with the reclusive inquisitor. Upon her last meeting he said he had discovered something that could sunder the Imperium if not handled correctly.
It wasn’t long after that did the Dark Angels arrived. The deeds of their chapter were legendary and while she herself was a fearless member of the Emperors guard she was glad to have her own angels of death supporting this investigation. Assisting the guards job in pacifying the rebellious planet earlier in the year were two companies of the Exorcist chapter. All of them were silent a majority of the time but when the guards division commanders ordered and investigation into the conflict happening mere kilometers away from their own headquarters it seemed Captain Arcus and his “Reaver” Bodyguards couldn’t volunteer fast enough to assist.
The repurposed civilian skimmer settled on the pad. As if appearing from no where a number of Dark Angels and their newer Primaris brothers approached. Out of their numbers one baring the new marking of a Lieutenant stepped forward palm open towards them a silent order to halt. Judith would have none of it.
As she exited her vehicle an explosion rocked one of the research towers flames spilling out in every direction. None of the Astartes moved to take cover so neither would she. It began to rain, heavy drops pelting her Commisar cap.
“What has happened here?” She called to the Lieutenant.
“There’s been a rebellion mam.” The giant in Green and black responded.
Wait. The Dark Angels were just green as far as she knew. Looking at the other Astartes surrounding the Junior officer a number of them sported different heraldry and color schemes. What was this. As she scanned she noticed a number of bodies behind the living walls of cermite in front of her. Bodies of the Catchan regulars the Inquisitor had used as his personal guard torn in half by bolt rounds or cut neatly by power weapons.
The Lieutenant seemed to know where she gazed and raised his bolter to his shoulder. His men following suit.
“It’s time for you to leave mam.”
Her hand was one the bolt pistol at her hips. Astartes or not her chances were just as good if not better with Captain Arcues and his skull masked reavers behind her. That was until two Exorcist Astartes stepped out from the nearby doorway.
Her blood went cold as she felt a heavy gauntleted hand on her shoulder pull her back and guide her towards the Skimmer she had arrived on.
The pilot was bone white watching the ordeal and quickly started up the vehicle.
Behind her there was a shout. Two of the bolter armed marines were on the ground missing an arm and a leg. Heading towards the skimmer at full tilt sprint were one of the Inquisitors death cult assassins clutching a blade coated in blood in one hand and a data drive in the other. It reached out to her seemingly about to toss the data drive before Captain Arcus’s speared hand impailed his chest. His reavers followed up quickly slicing the assassin neatly five ways.
Two of his Reavers entered the skimmer beside her as the Captain recovered the data drive. As the skimmers door closed through the view port the doorway opened once more showed a giant towering even above the Primaris marines flanked by five of the kind each armed with some kind of heavy plasma gun and colored black. The last view of the research hub was Captain Arcus kneeling before the giant and offering the drive.
It had been nearly two weeks since the incident. The brass upstairs no longer questioned anything the Dark Angels did. Something had scared them good. Judith was a changed women. Her core resolve had been shaken to the core by what these “Angels” had done. After researching the number of Marines she had seen she found that she had witnessed nearly several successor chapters of the Dark Angels fighting besides the first founding chapter. This was legion building, something she dined to report immediately as soon as the massive Dark Angel Fleet floating above the planet left.
Her vox bead rumbled.
“Judith here.”
“Commisar Judith. The Regiment is preparing for immediate movement from the planet.” Her regimental colonel stated clearly.
“What?!” Judith couldn’t believe the opportunity. She could make her report faster and tell the Imperium of this potential threat.
“We are being attached newly reformed Dark Angel Legion in orbit. Being led by one of the Primarchs himself!”
Judiths eyes went wide. Her breath became shallow gasps for air.
“No...”
“What was that Commisar Judith. There may have been a vox glitch.”
A heavy knock hit her door. She put her hands on either side of her head not believing this.
“Judith are you receiving?”
Another knock harder this time. Tears were flowing like a river down her once steely face.
“We’ll be just like the heroes of the great crusade Judith can you imagine it?”
The door open showing the two Exorcist bodyguards she had had on the return trip from the research had. Each one had a new addition to their armor. Hanging from their armored wrists were small steel chained bracelets with the symbol of the Dark Angels hanging from the end of the chain. Their eyes glowed a hot red.
