I added a thing
in the cold, you wrap around me - pearly teeth resting gently beside my wrist. paper-cut fur rises and falls as you breathe slow, a rumbling snore in your chest. i rest my head against you; draw comfort from so familiar an embrace.
We all know about triggers. But I have learned recently about glimmers.
Glimmers are:
Small moments that spark opposite emotions to triggers such as joy, peace and safety
So I decided that I will start recording, or journalling or writing them down.
So here is day one. Or well at least the first one.
I am here in my home, sitting staring out my window looking outside, thinking how quiet it is. When I lived with my dysfunctional family. The quiet, was not peaceful. The quiet, was not calming. It was tense, I did not know when my sister would errupt and how it would play out. I was super aware and hyper vigilant. There was no rest and no peace. It was not tranquil.
But here, in my own home...
Its calming.
I can feel my body relaxing.
I feel more peaceful.
I am not worried or hypervigilant at what could happen.
And when I realised this, I smiled. I am so grateful that I have this now, and I hope for a long time to come.
Under a lot of Eva relatet videos you'll find comments like "I thought this was a show about robots fighting monsters...how wrong I was" and while that is a joke in the community its still something that has me realize that more people than one might think start Eva because they think its your typical mecha show when in reality its a show about traumatized children and adults that all have their own issues and problems that are the result of diffrent kinds of trauma. Its exactly these deep, realistic and very well written characters that we relate to that give Eva a lot of its charm.
But most people are often not prepared for what comes later on in Evangelion, especially from episode 15/16 on. And I feel like too many ignore the fact that despite NGE being a masterpiece its still one with a shit ton of stuff that can end up being extremely triggering.
Especially Asuka and Ritsuko's cases with Kyoko and Naoko.
The amount of people I've seen who are like "They should've expected (insert event here), its Eva" and no, no they shouldnt just because its Eva. They should expect things because we as a community should give out trigger warnings to help some folks out but instead we still have people say tws are useless or dumb.
Funnily enough its always the "best girl"-dudebros who say shit like that,,,
I dont even know where I'm going with this,,,I guess I just wanted to rant about the lack of trigger warnings regarding Evangelion because I've seen so many people be shocked by the shit that happens later,,,
Sorry I'm silly and this was so pointless,,,
wtf is this
