You know it's common in stories to have the hero push over a limit or gian a superpower thanks to character development and it's always nifty, but when Kung Fu Panda 2 had Po make peace with the tragedies of his past and attain inner peace, with the visual of the waterdrop rolling on him before being set down as if to show that things both material and emotionnal flow through him without disturbing him, and having this as a set up to him deflecting cannonballs because he can no longer be harmed by Shen's weapons just as he can't be hurt by his taunts or his past actions...did they write the greatest moment of all cinema or what?

You know, if Reaching Out taught us anything, it's how much Luz tends to deflect emotional turmoil by distracting herself. So when at the beginning of Edge of the World, she's still reeling from Hollow Mind, it's honestly not that surprising to see her massively shift mood as soon as King's letter is found.

It's like she went "OOOOH something else to focus my attention of instead of the horribly dark stuff I just went through!" and then the actual episode happens and she's probably like "ah farts"

Bee and puppycat be like : "ok so we're gonna drop huge pieces of lore and never follow up on them. Or if we do, it'll only raise more question. Half of our runtime will be wacky nonsense. We'll have a space plot but spend most of our time learning to love the neighbours. It's gonna be very unclear how any of the characters met or what they know. Space tech will look like giant kindergarten toys. We're gonna cut off with almost nothing resolved. It'll be disconnected from any type of conventional narrative structure.

The Mitchells vs the machines - thoughts

Overall, 7.5/10. Pretty solid, but a bit obvious, cheesy and predictible at times. Amazing comedy and art direction though.

-> Pretty sure Katie is autistic. She stims at a couple of times, and there’s something about the “weird interests parents don’t get” that REALLY vibed with me.

-> Aaron is also autistic but I don’t think I even need to argue for that one. Come on. Look at him.

-> I like that they didn’t go full boomer (or full Emoji Movie) when discussing the relationship with communication technology : sure, they poke fun at it, but there’s mostly a lot of bashing against its capitalistic flaws rather than “huur dur young people don’t talk anymore”. I mean, the last scene is Katie using tech to call her family.

-> Speaking of that scene, confirming Katie as wlw is cool, but it would have been nicer if it hadn’t been relegated to, again, litteraly the last scene. But hey, a confirmation’s a confirmation.

-> The use of actual brand names feels weird? Is it just me? Probably just me.

-> I really need to stress how good the comedy is. Also how pretty it is. The colors! The designs! The drawn overlays with the cg animation to accentuate things...love that shit

So, in D&D 5e, the Monk’s Deflect Missile ability can catch and rethrow a missile if it reduced the damage to zero. It reduces the damage by 1d10 (average 5) plus dexterity plus monk level.

A ballista, according to the DMG, deals an average of 3d10 (average 16) damage.

So, a level 7 monk with 18 dexterity (or anything above in Dex or level) could reach an average of 16 damage reduction with Deflect Missile, hence deflecting a ballista bolt.

Meaning this :

Is completely possible.

(Provided that you ignore that a ballista bolt doesn’t fit in one hand and that Tai Lung’s target might be beyond 60 feet)
