"Work.” Right, as if she knew anything else. Selina was always working, her hands were in the dirt. Sweat dripping down her brow, shifting her long hair from side to side every few minutes. Tilling land, wasn’t fabulous or anything but it was a job for a while right? That’s what Hyoyoung always told herself, temporary. That’s all it was, it couldn’t last forever-- it seemed like hours, she was her face flushed from the heat. Her feminine hands calloused from the manual labor, breathing slowly but deeply. She tires easily, more a sprinter than a distance runner. Worked like a slave, her skin being tanned now she looked more olive than anything. The sun couldn’t go down quick enough, that was for sure. Tilling land, watering--- feeding animals that weren’t particularly friendly to her, hence why she only liked cats.
At the end of the day, she was paid for her labor-- luckily it was by the row and not the field. It still wasn’t much, it was day labor after all. Not like it was a steady decent paying job. Hands snatching up the few dollars, her body was sore. She was tired, and knew eventually she’d have to take a nap or something.
She wanders back into the city, debating on what was more important.
The leo festival! --- Duur?
Before she knows it, her eyes catch the sight of something-- extravagant. Something she knows it, her hands are touching the fine material of a dress. She shouldn’t have, the rich deep red color eyes focused---
She shouldn’t.
A soft sigh leaves her lips, the dress wasn’t anything like Royalty but just looking at it... made her feel like a princess. The dusty pants and shirt, covered in random tatters easily paled in comparison to the dress. Selina imagined herself attending the festival, eating good food and feeling free. Maybe she’d meet nice people to talk to, not befriend-- nothing like that. Or a nice boy--
Never mind, she’d rather save herself the embarrassment. “Excuse me-- were you looking at this dress?” Her hands immediately drop to her sides, nervously brushing her hair out of her face. The woman of the shop looks her up and down, “No, not really. I mean, it’s a beautiful dress.. that’s for sure.” She means that, a small smile on her lips. “Child you walked straight into my shop, to look at it. Why don’t you try it on hmm?” Try it on? She can’t even remember the last time she’s worn a dress. Thinking of having to tie up the corset, she’s not the smallest girl around that was for sure.
“...No-- No-- mam I can’t even afford it ya know?” She jokes, rubbing the back of her neck. Before being ushered into the back, seeing the dress peeled off it’s mannequin. Her slender arms slipping through the sleeves of the dress, strings being pulled back to tighten it around her body. Eyes shut tight, feeling her hair being placed over her shoulders. Slowly-- but surely, she opens her eyes and the sight almost scares her.
It’s so unlike her but she feels pretty, a light pink dusted her cheeks. Her dimple was prominent even, covering her mouth before laughing. “I don’t even look-- like myself. Wow-- is this magic?” Disbelief, but she’s happy, “I-”
“I should take it.. off.” Her happy moment doesn’t last forever.
“Why would you do that hmm? It fits you so well.”
Taking out the small earnings, “This is all I have, so, I’ll take it off and fold it for you even.” Hyoyoung offers, it was already kind of the woman to even let her wear it. “Wear it.” The woman says quietly, “This dress has been here and you’re the only girl whose ever been drawn to it. Not to mention you look beautiful.” She gives Hyo’s butt a playful tap, which she jumps back with a laugh.
“I... couldn’t. Really.”
“You are.”
Maybe she could go to the festival, pretty dress and all.
