my weekend has consisted of trying and failing abysmally to find the texts for these random 1830s plays for a paper. so my last fucking straw is this. imagine if you will. i am three databases deep. after emailing multiple admins of random british universities for special access to their online collections. i finally come upon a pdf with a title that suggests it would contain all the answers i am seeking. i open it. and it looks like this 😍😍😍

New Years goal: be active.

Participate. Reply. Comment. Share stories with strangers. Be active in whatever space you decide to own as a part of your experience.

Passivity permits you to be acted on; you are giving up power in favor of easy consumption. It enables an inner monologue of powerlessness and self victimisation.

The world is so big and wide and diverse, for all that the internet and media makes it all seem so small and contained and simplistic. There is and should always be space for every person to participate, to be active and alive and fulfilled in whatever purpose they’ve ascribed to. It’s okay to make your own space, build on it, and take it up fully and wholly, because like love, it is not a finite resource and community is a nebulous, living, shifting collective of people and thoughts and ideas.

I want to do things that are crazy and fun and memorable this year. They don’t have to last forever or make any great impact on anyone or anything, but at least I can say that I was here and I did something for the fun of it, because it made me laugh, because I wanted to, because it was important, even just because.

I am tired of trying to ride out a storm that won’t pass. Fear is not my master. I refuse to live any longer in isolation of my own making.

My goal for this year is to be active. This is my reminder to myself.
