In a universe where everyone is born with numbers on their wrists counting down to when they’ll meet their soulmate, send me 00:00:00 for my muses reaction to their numbers hitting zero when they meet yours.
He ignored it. Every time it happened, he ignored it. The first time the Doctor noticed it happened, was when Sarah left. "Don't forget me." How could he ever? The whole period she was with him, his wrist had shown a small 00:00:00, but when she stepped out of the TARDIS, it reset. It was back counting down.
The Doctor had just ignored it, until many faces later, he met her again-- and ignored it. It hit 00:00:00 again. There was no mistake in this system that no one could explain-- Sarah Jane was his soulmate.
But she couldn't be! So he ignored it and waiting for the numbers on his wrist to reset again.
But this time was different. His face had changed again, and while straightening his bow tie, he grinned. The Doctor was on Pluto and glanced once more at his wrist. Nineteen seconds left. No way this was Sarah-- this would be someone completely new. How exciting! Perhaps a fellow traveller who will land in a moment? Or perhaps someone drilling up through the floor? Then, giving him a tiny shock, someone ticked their index finger on his shoulder. Turning around, the Doctor found a familiar face in front of him. Of course.
