Fitz was...nervous. To say the least. 

Sure, he had a fairly high profile gig. Hell, his boss was an agent that was supposed to be dead. Not to mention that the team was rounded out with the Cavalry and Ward (who, as much as he hated to admit it, did have a bit of a prestigious reputation). 

And then you had Jemma and him. Who - skilled though they were - were clearly the outliers. They weren't cleared for field work, and they weren't particularly athletic, and they're only real reputation remained at the Academy. They were untested. Unproven. Valuable, but...
