65 years ago today, Emmitt Till, a young Black boy, was kidnapped, bludgeoned, shoot in the head, tied with barbed wire to a cotton gin fan, and thrown in the Tallahassee, River by an angry mob of white men, while visiting his family in Money, Mississippi. Why such brutality towards a child who at the tender age of 14, was the same age as Barron Trump is today? Young Emmitt was accused of flirting with Carolyn Bryant, a white woman cashier, at a local grocery store Till had visited. The murderers included Carolyn’s husband, Roy Bryant and several other white men, who were acquitted a month following the brutal killing. Many years later, Carolyn Bryant herself, later recanted her story and admitted to the false allegations that led to such a horrific death of Emmitt. Today, the lynching of Emmitt Till resonates throughout our nation as we continue to witness the lynching of countless unarmed Black boys and men. Racism, bias, privilege, heartlessness, and unaccountability is often at the forefront of these murders. When will the violence and hatred end? The answer is within each of us. The time is now! #InRemembrance #EmmittTill #NotInvain #repostandroid #repostw10 https://www.instagram.com/p/Chzw5ZdOSQDvfnuf5oJir8DgjM-MTY-nPr2mSg0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
