I’ve always thought it was a neat character decision to have the core 5 wear civilian clothes that all have a theme of horizontal yellow/orange stripes somewhere; especially because the stripes are symmetrical and divided, reminiscent of the lion eyes. 

And then there’s this Shiro.

Predator

Lance hurried back up to his feet, and making a run for the red lion’s hanger. His chest heaved, feeling as if someone put an anvil on his chest, and you might as well have. The hand shaped burn on his arm felt like it was going to explode as he looked back to make sure the predator was not going to catch its prey. But then again, who know’s if the predator was running to catch its prey, lance, or was it stalking, waiting for the perfect moment to strike?

It all started out with the training session. It always did. No matter what, something always went down. In Lance’s opinion, they were on a good start. No one was missing their shots or swings, and everyone was in sync. Allura even allowed them a five minute break- one that they had never been allowed before.

Yet, still, it seemed so... off. Lance squinted his eyes, looking around the room, as if waiting for an opponent to pop out of nowhere and kill everyone in the room with no warning. A perfect day like this, just seemed so outlandish to him that he knew something was up.

For some reason, Lance found himself watching Shiro closely. No, it wasn’t because he had a crush on him or anything along the lines of that. But Lance had realized once they had gotten back to training, that the day itself wasn’t off, but more of that Shiro wasn’t off.

There wasn’t any irritation coming off of Shiro, like there normally was when someone made a mistake. As perfect as that training session was, it was impossible not to make a mistake.

Soon enough, though, the training session was over, and everyone was excused to do whatever they wished.

What the paladins were going to do was quite obvious. Hunk would most likely make a snack for the team, Pidge, although Shiro told her to clean up her room some, would mostly likely practice her coding, or find some game from earth to play on her computer. Allura would probably play with her mice, or talk strategies with Lotor. Yet, Lance had the feeling that they weren’t always talking strategy. Sure, seeing those two so close to eachother made Lance extremely jealous; but, as much as he he hated and didn’t trust Lotor, he also wanted Allura to be happy. Shiro would probably go to bond with the black lion. He’d been talking about how their bond was weak after he escaped the galra again.

And Lance? Well, usually he would help Coran around the castle, but Lance wasn’t exactly too keen on cleaning the healing pods again. He’d been suspicious of them ever since he got trapped in it. So instead, he decided to train with his sword.

When Lance first got the sword, after him and Allura had their talk, he told the rest of the team. The reactions were mostly the same, except one.

“You will have to practice that on your own time.”

Of course it was Shiro. Things seemed to be getting more and more tense between Lance and Shiro ever since they were in the astral plane.

To be honest, at this point, Lance wasn’t even sure he should be called Shiro ‘Shiro’ anymore. The Shiro that came back from the galra prison just didn’t seem like their Shiro.

So, Lance switched his bayard from gun to sword and turned back on the training session simulator. He didn’t know what they really called it, so the team just called it something new everytime they went to practice.

Soon enough, Lance was swinging his heart out at everything that came at him. And although he messed up a lot, he soon began to get the hang of it.

“Sweet! I can’t wait to show the team my improvement!” Lance muttered, grinning as he spun the sword in his hand, something he remembered keith doing many times when he was still with the team.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

Lance heard the voice shout from across the room and instantly froze, he turned around, watching Shiro walk towards him in an angry, fast manner. Lance was paralyzed, but he still studied Shiro, his movements, and especially, his eyes. They he could see the glint of someone’s reflection behind them, as if someone was watching him.

Lance sucked in his breath, knowing that all of the suspicions he had towards the leader of the team were right. Or at least, he was 75% sure it was.

“You... you arent our Shiro, are you?”

The smell of burnt flesh and the excruciating pain coming from Lance’s arm shook him out of his brief paralyzation. Shiro didn’t respond to his statement, and was now burning his hand with his arm while eerily staring down at him with a calm, yet somehow angry, face.

Lance threw his bayard at Shiro, hoping for him to be distracted by it and take his burning hand off of Lance, even if it were for a second. And somehow it worked. Lance made sure to thank whoever was out there watching over him for that one.

He took off running, slowed down by the throbbing pain left behind by Shiro on his arm. Lance knew he had no time to lose, he had to get to Red.

Little did Lance know, the predator was one step ahead of him. He always was. Shiro had known all along of Lance’s suspicions. No, it wasn’t Shiro who had known, it was the witch behind it all.

Unaware of the impending doom ahead, he continued running for the hangar, although it would be safer to find Hunk or someone else. Someone who would believe him.

Lance had never been more thankful for the door to Red’s hangar, a door he always dreaded walking in and out of, a constant reminder of the battles he would have to face. Fortunately for Lance, he wouldn’t be having to pass through that door ever again. Lance wouldn’t even pass through it to escape from his predator. His predator had found a shortcur, and was awaiting his arrival.

Just as Lance was about to run through the door, he yelled out a bloodcurdling scream as he felt the strangely familiar burning hot hand wrap around his neck and pull him away from the door. Lance realized to late that he had been caught, that it was over for him.

The predator had caught its prey.

Kuron means clone in Japanese. It's written as 'クローン' (Katakana)
