Remember the last time ABS-CBN was shut down. When journalists and activists were silenced, detained, and killed. How Filipinos lost their rights to due process and free speech. The last time was in the hands of a dictator, and without a doubt, we are again under the leadership of one.
The Anti-Terrorism Bill allows the police, law enforcement, and the military to carry out warrantless arrests without incurring liability under Article 125 of the Revised Penal Code.
This means that anyone could be a target. With this bill, the government is in full position to kill dissent and opposition.
As of June 3, 2020, the Anti-Terror Bill now only needs to be signed into law by President Duterte.
