Where you can go for a quarter — Or in South Africa R5... the train will run from Stellenbosch, Western Cape all the way past vineyards, shantytowns to Maatjies fontein's ghost hotel: where you can stop for lunch(sorry no sleeping over...) And if you are braver you can observe the Kongo caves... All miniature of course! The train, the landscape and the caves... This is what first captivated me about the miniature museum: the train. It was broken at the time- I wrote a song about it- and now it is fixed and running again! And you can watch it go past historical landmarks in a play-landscape that fits into just one room! When you catch me interacting with tourists in Stellenbosch it is always:"Have you seen the Toy and Miniature Museum yet?!" I am very proud to say that the song I wrote "Stuur vir my jou liefde"(Send me your love) will be part of the production I am doing at the Woordfees in March with Thomas de Bruin(flautist) and Stellenbosch United Brothers(SUB). To me it just shows how far music can stretch: from an ordinary experience of a broken miniature train to a World class festival! The music of the production "Drink Hulle Tee In Kanada" is being mixed and there are a couple of SUB grammy touches I want to add- fingers crossed it will be available for download soon! There was a time when I researched: #Who will listen to my music #Where and in which #Language of what #Religion???? And then something viral happened and I made friends across the world who farm with mangoes, sell sunglasses, shovel snow and climb mountains on prosthesis... It's true: You can't put life(or life experiences and the people that goes with it) in a box! Now my Atlas is too small: I still can't point out all the countries I studied but I do remember the faces who listen and respond to the joy of people and experiences I share and celebrate. #NoTranslationNeeded #BabylonPeople Xxx Marthie Haupt Ps Yes!
