Nottoway Plantation has burned down.
They have released footage of the suspect.
Ridge Road, Nottoway, Virginia.
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire! We don't need no water, let the motherfucker burn! But seriously, plantations were just forced labor camps full of casual violence and trauma. The Germans didn't rebrand Auschwitz as "Auschwitz Resort & Venue" but because plantation houses are pretty, I'm supposed to forget the blood and sweat of enslaved people that went into making and maintaining it. The Whitney Plantation is better because it's a nonprofit museum instead of whitewashing all the trauma that went into maintaining the rich lifestyles of Southern belles and gentlemen. As a black woman, it's hella weird to me when white people go "I know this place was the site of a lotta rape, tragedy, and torture but like, the Big House is so pretty so I'm having my wedding there." Sure, bitch. Just stroll around the plantation grounds (which probably contain the unmarked graves of countless enslaved people) and take your wedding photos. I hope your marriage falls through.
Visited the largest antebellum mansion in the South decorated with baccarat crystal gas powered chandeliers and hand painted dresden doorknobs. Even running hot and cold water. Two staircases were designed so women and men could enter separately... dare the women bare an ankle on the way up the stairs 😂 #AmericanQueen #Antebellum #Mansion #Nottoway #baccarat #dresden https://www.instagram.com/mskrystee/p/CYFoDfbAcWo/?utm_medium=tumblr
Nottoway Plantation House
This is Nottoway Plantation House. Nottoway Plantation, also known as Nottoway Plantation House is located near White Castle, Louisiana. The plantation house is a Greek Revival and Italianate-styled mansion built by John Hampden Randolph in 1859. This build in inspired by the Nottoway Plantation main mansion. It is the third build of my New Orleans inspired architecture.
*Build notes
This was a labour of love and sweat and tears. This took me a whole week, mainly to get most of the building exterior exact and to landscape the grounds. The exterior, especially the front facade, the fountain courtyard and the rotunda were built to match the original building. The floor plan however, is totally made up because I couldn't find the correct floor plan for the actual house.
This is a massive lot. MASSIVE. If you have a good computer, you can run this on high performance to enjoy the detail and the gardens. If not, run this with low performance to reduce the lag. This mansion is three stories high with a mock basement, the main living floor and the family floor. You'll get 7 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. This mansion is equipped with a home cinema and a three lane bowling alley.
Amenities :
1. Grand courtyard 2. Fountain courtyard 3. Greenhouse 4. Kitchen/Staff Dining 5. Staff Quarters 6. Bowling Alley 7. Snack Bar 8. Home Cinema 9. Gym 10. Changing Room 11. Pool 12. This build isn't cheap either, coming in at 701,980 simoleons furnished and 231,397 simoleons unfurnished. This was not a pack limited build because to get the mansion look I had to mix and match all of the catalogue.
This lot was designed to fit the 64x64 lot in Brindleton Bay.

When the Past Is a Venue: Plantation Weddings, Diasporic Memory, and the Fire at Nottoway
As a Canadian of Jamaican descent, I can’t even count how many times I’ve been back to the island of sunshine, reggae, good food and vibes — the land of wood and water. I loved visiting my aunts, uncles and staying at my maternal grandparents’ house in the Jamaican countryside. But among my most memorable activities was visiting the Rose Hall Great House when I was twelve years old. When I heard…
