the space between them is too obvious, only a foot gap yet it feels like a mile. agreeing to watch a movie with her felt like a good idea in theory, but now, all tai can think about is how much more comfortable it'd be to have the other girl in her arms, or even just for their legs to brush, their hands to meet --- anything that would remind tai she isn't just imagining mikayla here with her now. she shouldn't be thinking about it at all; they're keeping their distance from each other for their own reasons, yet when they're together, it's so easy to brush them off in her own head, leaving her to wonder now why they can't just allow themselves the comfort of one another.
@notvictims, "you keep staring at me instead of watching the film. what's up?"
if tai isn't afraid to call mikayla out on these moments, she should always expect the same from mikayla --- and yet, she's still annoyed when mikayla speaks, because it means that she hadn't done a good job of keeping her cool ( despite the fact that she hadn't even noticed just how distracted she was by mikayla. ) her eyes roll and she quickly turns her head back to the tv, arms crossing over her chest to make herself smaller in her space on the couch. ❝ you are so full of yourself, ❞ she mumbles slowly in deflection, a smile tugging at her lips a moment later before she finally allows herself to glance back over to her. ❝ i'm not. i wasn't. i just wanted to see if you were into it, ❞ she lies, her eyes turning back to the tv once again, suddenly realizing she has absolutely no idea what's going on in the movie.
