America, you were never great.

  We have survived genocide. We have had our histories erased, our traditions extinguished, languages and lands ripped from us.

People of color have endured so much and will continue to endure more:

Muslims faced with fear mongering assholes

Black men and women dealing with institutionalized enslavement

Mexican & Latinx people who have built the houses you’re in and picked/packed the food you eat being told they are nothing more than a violet stereotype

Undocumented people with the choice between leaving their history and lives or being stripped of their basic human rights and access to a decent living.

Women living in a world led by the spokesmodel for rape culture...

  America, you were never great.

  Where you stand is stolen land, and yes that is history but it is also the present and future – it cannot be forgotten. The history that has been created is not mine, this America is not mine. Built on the blood of my ancestors, it is a land where I must resist to really exist. America the free will never be a real thing, just something of imagination. A façade created in order to build a blind nation. A blind nation with a reputation of ignorance and destruction, all in the name of the American dream. They preach acceptance while acting as if this bastard nation is the epitome of greatness. They have tried to breed sheep, but my people are not that weak.

  Please try and convince me of when this greatness existed.

Where was this era of wonder, I must have missed it.

  Was it during Jim Crowe? When black and brown bodies weren’t even human enough for a vote.

During the incarceration camps of WWII? When Japanese Americans were deemed as dangerous without personal reason. Demonized by demons of the nation.

The 1960s during Nancy and Bobby Regan? During the war on drugs and it’s ploy to incarcerate as many black and brown bodies as they could without real explanation.

Are these the times we are searching for? Is that the America you want to live in, build, and support?
