As some of you may have surmised, I bought a Maniple.

Just in case you can't make it to NOVA.
One of the cooler things we saw over the weekend was this dwarf version of the Siege of the Imperial Palace, scratch built from pine trim and decorative molding. Aside from its diminutive stature, it’s pretty on model to the larger diorama that first graced the pages of White Dwarf more than twenty years ago.
I wish I’d been able to get some pictures of models actually in play on it, but I was happy to just get close enough during some downtime to examine its construction. It’s a solid edifice and built to break down into manageable sub assemblies for ease of transport. I think you’d be hard pressed to fit a Warlord Titan behind the wall, but it looks fantastic all the same.
The big takeaway from NOVA, so far, isn't the new Sisters of Battle, Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress or more Ork reveals – it's the return of Turn Signals on a Land Raider. So, to commemorate this momentous occasion, here is my first brush with internet fame; it's the strip I inspired, way back in my redshirt days.
The lessons from last year were well learned, it seems - this year’s top table was furnished entirely by the Games Workshop studio team and built to the NOVA mission specifications. This board will feature on the Warhammer TV live stream, once the event gets well underway, with the Invitational going on today and the Grand Tournament starting tomorrow
I did a circuit of the gaming hall and snapped some pictures of other boards that I liked. As there’s time, I’ll post some of them up so that you can enjoy them, too.
Having been part of a wild Only War campaign, myself - and still regularly play my former penal legionnaire in Dark Heresy - I really enjoy Eagle Ordinary; so I’m curious to see how Kaiser’s official GW project, Vhane Glorious turns out.
I’m much more of a Rogue Trader guy, myself, so it’s always a treat to see other interpretations of life on the edge of Imperial authority with nothing but your ship, your crew and your fabulous wealth for company.
Narrative Apocalypse battle at NOVA, just a big damn show. Most of these models won't last the next turn.
