Nova Ryder #1
1. Nova Ryder is actually Scott Orion’s twin sister. Their younger brother Jericho is the one who ended up in the coma for most of the game. 2. Nova is also the one who Alec gave his life to save. Scott Orion had been patrolling the perimeter whilst Nova stood and argued with Alec about his decision to interface with the alien tech. 3. Nova started dyeing her hair when she was fifteen, specifically because she knew her father wouldn’t like it. Of course, she went with her favorite color when she did and kept it that way ever since. 4. Nova, just like her brothers, is trans. She and Scott Orion joke about how they just traded genders the entire time. 5. Nova also picked her own name. Scott Orion asked for a list of names that Ellen and Alec had been considering when Ellen was pregnant and picked from that, Nova just picked something she liked. 6. Nova spent her teenage years rebelling against Alec whilst Scott Orion just tried to impress him. She never realized it actually made her more like Alec in how she went outside what was typically expected. 7. As a result, she built her personality around being brash and rude and casual to irritate her father. She’s actually pretty mellow and chill. Her idea of a perfect first date is piling up in an observatory with lots of pillows and blankets and looking at the stars. 8. Even though Nova is the one who ended up connected to SAM, she lets Scott Orion take charge most of the time. Unless she disagrees, that is, then she has no problem being the authority. And she usually disagrees a lot- Scott Orion tries to do what he think Alec would do whilst Nova tries to do the opposite. 9. Her arc centers around actually taking the responsibility of Pathfinder and growing more professional, learning that she doesn’t have to do everything to spite Alec, especially now that he’s dead. She can just be herself. 10. She has scars on the left side of her face where she was caught by an exploding frag grenade fighting off batarian pirates on a dig. She’s also deaf in her left ear and eventually got a tattoo that matched her hair color around her left ear. She tried to convince her brothers to get matching tattoos, but neither one of them did.
