        there’s something exhilarating about being on the last flyer and skimming the crowd to find his final victim.  the suffering?  forgotten.  the complete and utter exhaustion?  left behind.  it’s almost like he hasn’t been standing out here for an hour straight.  

        “hey there!”  the peppiness surprises himself, considering how the last several flyers were given with notably dreary demeanor.  “would you like a flyer?  it lists all the events that nova entertainment has coming up this month.”  he points to several of the events, explaining each one briefly before releasing his hand on the piece of paper and taking a step back so the other can’t give it back to him.

        “do you have any freedom?”

        wait, no.  freudian slip.

        “sorry, i mean, do you have any questions about any of the events?”

                 ▸   NOVA FLYER + 07   ,  @danielxrk​

        he’s about two seconds away from passing out.  no kidding.  he’d chugged the last of his water thirty minutes ago, thinking that he could hand out the remaining flyers in record time.  but everyone’s running away  ( it’s his face, isn’t it? ),  and in all honesty, he doesn’t have enough energy to chase after them.

        now, the smart thing is to call it quits and grab a drink, maybe some food, even.  but.  he only has a handful of flyers left, and really, once he takes a break, he won’t want to come back out.  so here, he stays, fingers clutched tight to the last ten, steps teetering a bit as he continues handing them to whoever’s willing to take one.

        and then he comes along.

        as far as kun’s concerned, angels exist and sometimes they take human form.  today, it takes form in a random stranger who hands him an iced latte, unprompted.  and needless to say, he nearly dies of gratitude---but tries his best not to show it, lest it looks unprofessional.  “here,”  he says instead, offering a flyer.  or three.  “we can trade.”

        he pauses, squints.  “have we met?”  it feels like he’s seen this guy recently too, but where---ah.  “you’re on the mgas.”

                   ▸   NOVA FLYER  + 06   ,  @rkkyungsoo

       to think, it was just a few years ago when he and kyungsoo performed in front of the hundreds.  at that point in time, he had a paper clutched tightly in his trembling hands, lips shaking, breathless.  and now he’s here:  a nova trainee who’s much more confident in himself, in the korean language, and surprisingly, in rap.  kyungsoo seems to be doing well, too.  though the other didn’t appear too terribly nervous during their collaboration, kun still felt the slight twinge of nervous energy---yet here he is as a contestant on the mgas.

        “you should come to nova,”  he muses, handing his past language tutor a flyer.  “show up at these events, and maybe hyun bin will remember you.  mere exposure effect.”  though he says this with a smile, he knows it’s somewhat far-fetched.  sure, nova has singing powerhouses like jungwoo and yongsun, but for the most part, it’s a dance-oriented company.  unfortunately, from what he’s seen on the mgas stage, kyungsoo is not . . a dancer.

                    ▸   NOVA FLYER   + 05   ,   @rkyeosang

        it seems like a cruel twist of fate that they’re here, standing face-to-face, with a flyer in-between them.  he debates, briefly and between blinks of surprise, over whether he should return the flyer to his stack and turn away.  but he can’t, because he’s representing nova and, in general, that’s just . . incredibly rude.

        ( not to mention, he was the one who messed up.  he should be the nicer one here. )

        “this lists all the events nova has coming up this month.”  though he’s said this more than fifty times already, the words sound foreign.  they feel foreign.  “all of them are free with the exception of the last one, since we’re only sponsoring.”

        he falls quiet, then looks up.

        “i’m sorry,”  he blurts.

        oh god.

        “about---about the mgas.”  that is, quite evidently, not what he’s sorry about.

        ( he shouldn’t have said it. )

        ( fuck. )

                    ▸   NOVA FLYER + 04   ,  @rkdoyoung

        in a surprising twist, his sesame seed onigiris are more popular than his spicy salmon ones.  he chalks it up to the time of day;  it’s just after lunch, so perhaps salmon is a bit too heavy for those who have already eaten.  and because of that, he’s left with zero sesame seed ones and about fifteen salmon ones.  “sorry, i ran out of the other one.”  he hands him the pinkish onigiri before reaching back into his bag for a flyer.  “---whoa, wait, take one of these.”  he holds out the piece of paper.  “they come with the onigiri.”

                     ▸   NOVA FLYER  + 03   ,  @rkapril​

        sometimes life throws him a curve ball.  mind you, life has thrown him many curve balls, but this one really takes the cake.  “. . the events we have coming up, so if you’re interested in us, come by.  oh, and---”  he reaches into his bag and pulls out an onigiri to offer to her, and just as he gives it to her, he catches sight of a seagull swooping down and shit shit shit!

        “watch---!”  he makes the ugliest, most nonsensical sound as the seagull squawks in her face before attempting to grab the onigiri with its beak, its wings batting frivolously.

        “. . lists all the events that nova entertainment has coming up.”  he hands donghyuck the flyer along with a homemade onigiri.  “the one next saturday is the big one.  think they’re giving out free water bottles and baseball caps, or something like that.”  he gives his counterpart a small smile before turning to catch up with the next bypasser.  and unfortunately, unlike donghyuck, this lady doesn’t make it easy for him.

        she narrows her eyes at the flyer, before cocking her head to the side and scoffing.  why would i want to support this?  you kids aren’t making real music.  he blanks.  ( let it go, let it go, let it go. )  i mean,  she continues, shoving the flyer back into his hands,  can’t expect much, since they’re recruiting looks instead of talent.  his eyebrow twitches.  he’s about to smack a bitch.

       “have a nice day, enjoy the onigiri!”  today’s already off to a great start.  people are taking his flyers, complimenting his onigiris  ( which he had molded into cute, smiling stars to represent nova ),  and are all in all very pleasant to deal with.  but alas, it’s only been thirty minutes, and he’s not even half-way down the stack of flyers.  with a small huff, he reaches into his plastic bag for another onigiri, and with the umpteenth flyer in hand, he turns to the next approaching person.  “hello, would you like a---oh, it’s you.”  of all people.
