got a chance to work with a laser cutter, so i decided to clean up a sketch of Metz n use it. came out super dope but i have no idea how to photograph it LOL probs gonna post the raw sketch of him with the rest of the redesigned Go West! crew some point later this week

hey im back again, this time fr good. anyway expect a fuck ton of posts abt ocs, especially the  bots. just about everyone has gotten their final revamp, so everyone will get their own post n i’ll be talking about what’s changed n shit. they’ll be rolling out as i finish character illustrations but here’s a projected timeline for who’s coming when:

- PER-C (design and backstory overhauled) - Trouble (design overhauled) - Jonas (design overhauled, backstory refined) - Randy (design overhauled, backstory refined) - Metz (design overhauled, backstory refined) - Finch (design overhauled, backstory refined) - Penthouse (design overhauled, backstory refined) - Hook K. Jones (brand new design) - Hightower (brand new design)

expect tho, that names not even on this list, will be getting a devlog update bc. things are moving and shaking over here in my brain

i might have posted this??? probably not bc i can’t find it on any of my blogs but: i have been really looking at all the bots and sorting the ones with functional backstories and designs out and away from those that don’t. there’s been a bunch of redesigns, and the first bot to get a full revamp was Twink; they’re now working as a maintenance bot for the Sleeper Program with their twin Hal, and are probably the reason so many folks made it 150 years through cryosleep

the deepest bot lore: there was one programmer out there who wrote an harmless infectious string of code that gave whomever got infected rapturous enjoyment of mac and cheese. it was specifically for Naturalist bots and spread via shared networks and most bots ultimately got infected. the problem is that most of them don't have mouths so now, decades later, they just occasionally torment each other by reminiscing about a food item they've never tasted

now is an exellent time to emphasize the difference between social grouping in Arcanist and Naturalist robot communities. there's a distinct proclivity towards "familial" grouping in Naturalist bot communities - you'll find bots like Hal and Twi, like PER-C, AT-LS, and C-SIL who'll call eachother siblings, largely because they were built around the same time, or are the same type of robot. there's also bots who use "brother/sister" as a term of enderement for other bots.

this sort of grouping is completely absent in Arcanist bot communities - largely because there are so many more of them. they are made on assembly lines, in manufacturing plants. they rarely seek out others of their own "generation" and don't really develop relationships because what's the point when you're rotated out of factory work regularly and aren't allowed to speak (or lack the mechanisms to speak).

anyway i wanted to bring this up bc there's a ton of sibling/family units in my Naturalist bot characters, but literally none with what few Arcanist bots i have.

hey did i??? not post this???????? what??? okay well, this is my “Aisha” (same guy from here); he keeps his name secret because he’s on those Rumpelstiltskin rules if you know it, so he mostly goes by “The Tall Man” or just Tall Man. w/e floats ya boat. he’s 12 feet tall and it’s debatable as to whether or not he has bones. drawn on: 3/11/17
