He’s slanted. It’s the way he gets when he’s at this particular stage of inebriation — body off-kilter, dragonskin coat hung onto one shoulder (he’d gotten distracted with chasing a floating chocolate concoction in the process of taking it off), messy mop of ginger hair raised in parts and flipped over in others. Over the course of the evening, his syllables slide into one another, songs and shouts rolling off his tongue with supreme ease as he wanders and tilts his way through the crowd.
George is drunk — no, slanted — and, soon enough, he is one of the very last stragglers around.
As far as he’s concerned, there are only two places he can be when existing at such an angle: in the company of someone taking up the sorry task of sobering him up or — perhaps more idealistically for the intoxicated wizard — in the presence of another also tilted on their own axis, spinning to the finality of the moment that encircled them all.
“A toast!” He demands to the nearest concertgoer with a kind of revelry that only Ogden’s Old can imbue, and snaps his fingers to refill his glass of Firewhiskey. “To us, the very last Sisterheads to see them — EVER!”
"do me a favour?” all in a huff ( and the set of her mouth BETRAYING it, at a distance ), ginny didn’t waste any time dancing around the subject with a few pleasantries ; she was too irritated for those, and for finding a better way to bring up her need. “they won’t take my id,” tossers, she thought, darkly, "as IF i’ve snuck out of hogwarts just to catch a show and down a couple bevvies, but apparently, that’s more believable than this face passing for twenty two. buy me a firewhiskey?”
seamus was, in a word, BUZZED. the swell of the crowd set his nerve endings alight and it’d take a lot to wipe the grin off his face. “ SLAINTE MOTHERFUCKERS ! ” he cried, taking a long swig from a bottle he’d found in the basement of the hog’s head - aberforth won’t miss it, he’ll just fill it up with water or lighter fluid or something and put it back - and winced and shook his head, the colours from the flares that clung to his hair shaking out around his head in a cloud of technicolor. “ isn’t this just fucking IMMENSE ? ”
“Isn’t this great?!?” Max yelled over the music, dancing terribly even as he spoke. He didn’t care, though. Partially because he was a bit drunk. But mainly because he knew this was the Weird Sisters’ last show and he was going to enjoy it as much as he possibly could. He’d loved this band as long as he could remember and he wasn’t going to let anything ruin his night, least of all embarrassment over his dancing. “Damn, these guys are just so good!” He didn’t even know who was standing around him (he was too busy watching the stage to check his surroundings), but he didn’t care.
“MA – FALDA!” alicia wraps her arm around her from behind, resting her head on mafalda’s shoulder so that it peeks over, and presses a kiss to her cheek. “music good?”
june 27th, 2020. out on the moors just beyond hogsmeade village, a large stage has been set up ( and veiled with the finest cloaking charms from any curious muggles that stray unto its path ) for one night and one night ONLY. the weird sisters chose the location for their farwell tours LAST date themselves : insisting that there was a POETRY in ending their bands story where it all began... or at least, as close as they can get to the hogwarts grounds, since headmistress mcgonagall refused their request to set up on the grounds. it’s been six months in the making, and some in attendances of camped out in nearby fields for WEEKS to ensure that come the opening chords of ‘this is the night’, they’re stood FRONT & CENTER. those with a little less excitement are content with turning up a few hours from the nine pm start, and have booked a room in hogsmeade village to stay in, once the band has bid them all adieu.
on the opposite side of the nation, a very different event kicks off at the SAME TIME on diagon alley. madam celestina warbeck started her career on the stage of merlin’s music hall, but hasn’t played such a small event in years. she’s there to pay a debt, or perhaps perform a favor, to slash for a dear hogwarts friend who has gone on to become a LEADING figure in the fight for werewolf rights. against all the odds ( and prejudices ) stacked against them, they’ve managed to pull together a rather impressive BENEFIT CONCERT, all the money made on ticket sales and all of the donations given over the night going to charity aimed at providing crucial aid to those affected by lycanthropy and the shocking levels of unemployment plaguing them. the MINISTER OF MAGIC himself and a huge number of individuals known for their deep pockets have sensed an opportunity to do some good ( and secure a pretty photo op while doing it ), and rsvped months in advance.
WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE :
IN SCOTLAND : the final show of the weird sisters farewell tour is sure to draw as VARIED a crowd as every other concert they’ve ever played, whether those in attendance bought their tickets two years ago when they first went on sale, or secured them somewhat more recently through knockturn alleys black market. the concert itself is being held on the moors just beyond hogsmeade village and is under the same number of protective wards that a major quidditch game would be. a vast majority have opted to attend the concert and then return home, but there are those who were lucky enough to secure a bed for the night in one of the hogsmeade establishments ; and those who were either excited enough, or desperate enough, to settle for renting a plot of land and pitching a tent in one of the nearby fields.
IN LONDON : the benefit concert being held at merlin’s music hall, diagon alley ( just past gringott’s bank ) certainly WOULDN’T have attracted the same level of interest if it had been played by anyone but miss celestina warbeck. the legendary figure might be without her banshees for the night, but many individuals won’t let that stop them from seeing her live... even if the price of their ticket does go to a charity some might still hesitate to SUPPORT. ministry of magic officials were encouraged by minister shacklebolt ( one of the first honored guests to arrive, AND so far the highest donator ) to attend, and the hall has succeeded in selling out. given it’s being held in london itself, many have plans to return home, after ; but everywhere on diagon alley has been booked out.
OUT OF CHARACTER :
for the very first time, nox is holding two events in one - and it’s entirely up to you which one your character/s choose/s to attend, though they can each only attend the one. THE WEIRD SISTERS farewell tour and the CELESTINA WARBECK benefit concert simply happened to clash, and some might have found themselves forced to choose between their preferred evening, and the one encouraged by their boss. for some, the choice is simple, and missing the final show of the popular wizard rock band is simply not an option. for OTHERS, it’s very important to support the werewolf charity that the london event is raising funds for - whether that’s because they care about the cause, or because they sense an opportunity to look good.
the choice you make in regards to which event to throw each of your characters into dictates more than just which threads you can reply to and engage with during this time, but you’ll understand more in due time ! for now, just enjoy !
the event starts officially on monday the 6th at 12:00am GMT, 10:00am AEST & 12:00pm NZST and sunday the 5th at 5:00pm PST, 6:00pm MTN, 7:00pm CST, 8:00pm EST & 9:30pm NST ! this’ll cut into meme night, a bit, but i know we’re all a bit relieved on the inside. it’ll end at the same times, a week from then.
since there’s a lot going on this time around, it feels only natural to ask for a brief pause to be put on old threads to ensure a focus on event related ones ! you’ll be more than welcome return to them come the end of the week.
ALL event related starters should be tagged as nox.event004, but to make it easier for me reblogging things on the starter blog, please make sure to also tag either nox.concert or nox.charity, even if you tag locations ( hogsmeade moors for the concert, diagon alley for the charity night ) !
if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to message the main, and please reply ‘funday’ to this post !
