❝ THIS IS IT, QUIDDITCH FANS : after weeks of watching team after team attempt to battle their way to the top, the penultimate game is finally upon us ! the holyhead harpies ( our favorite girls in green ) tonight face off against the kenmare kestrels, a team that have made a formidable comeback this year after DECADES of failure. captains gwenog jones and aiden kiely have put their teams through their paces in their quest for glory, but they SURELY feel that their militant approach to quidditch training has paid off now that they have reached the semi finals ! as we all know, it could be anyone’s game, tonight : but the one thing that we here at the wizarding wireless network can GUARANTEE is a show that you won’t be able to tear yourself from ! ❞
WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE :
in spite of the controversy surrounding the decision, the british & irish league cup continues with the holyhead harpies & kenmare kestrels facing off on the british moors for the chance to go on to the finals. the game begins at 9:00pm sunday the 19th, and promises to be legendary.
OUT OF CHARACTER:
this is only a small event to kick noxtms off, but since quidditch is one of the more fun aspects of the harry potter world, i’ve come up with what i think is a fun way to involve you all, which will be further explained within the discord ! rest assured : you will have your chance to have a direct say in the outcome of the game itself.
characters in attendance can either be camping on the moors ( think goblet of fire ), or be there only for the night. the semi finals are a HUGE event, as the winner goes on to compete in the final ( of course ), but the winner of that goes on to the european league - the highest of honors, obviously desired by every team.
the event begins friday ( april 17th ) at 6:00pm GMT / 11:00am PST / 12:00pm MST / 1:00pm CST / 2:00pm EST / 3:30pm NST ! it will continue throughout the weekend, with an end time being announced at a later point.
your characters are not required to attend, and similarly, you are not required to take part - this is a mostly lowkey event to kick us off before we get farther into the plot, and you need not pause any threads for the duration.
you should NOT post event specific starters into the regular tag, but instead into nox.event001 ! it can be presumed if you’re posting an event related starter that your characters location is the british moors. as of THIS post, any starters will be based before the game : it will be announced on the main when the event is transitioning to the after celebrations !
if you have absolutely ANY questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to message the main, and please like this post once you’ve read it !
Pansy wandered around the campsites, feeling (and looking) utterly out of place. She hadn’t been to a quidditch match since her Hogwarts days and, honestly, she would’ve been fine to keep it that way. But then her boss had come in, practically last minute, and told her that she needed to go because she had to write the article on crowd anticipation and reactions and all that. Despite her slight lack of enthusiasm for the match itself, Pansy was quite excited to be there. This would be her first article for the Prophet. She had helped reporters with their articles before, doing research or taking notes for them, but had yet to write a full article herself. She glanced around the area for someone interesting. “Excuse me?” she called, once she found someone, “mind if I interview you for the Daily Prophet?”
It had been so long since Tracey had allowed herself to just enjoy a beautiful day. She usually always found a way to keep herself busy which meant work. It just was easier than to deal with the emptiness that she felt in her chest since losing her family although she knew that she had to at some point. She was going to try her best to avoid it though at all costs. She loved the energy that Quidditch had but she had never been brave enough to play during her Hogwarts years. She had been sitting down enjoying the atmosphere when she heard someone call out for her attention although she didn’t quite make out what they were saying. “Oh-- sorry. Did I take your spot?”
“i’m sorry, mum.” she’s only just been brought from the pitch to the medics tent, carried in on an archaic looking stretcher that she’d tried to insist she didn’t need, but had been hoisted onto anyway - and her focus isn’t on her. it doesn’t matter that she’s covered head to toe in mud, nor that her whole right side is on fire ( she’s sure the flames will die down, some, when the main medic returns with a shot of mandrake ). she cares more about the redhead woman at her side, who’s hand she reaches for with her good one and who’s eyes her own could have bore a hole into, they were so FOCUSED. molly never came to these things. she never accompanied the boys and dad, and the one time she did... “the one semi final you come to, and i get knocked off my broom. i’m sorry-”
after the whirlwind of a quidditch semi final which can be read beneath the cut, the holyhead harpies win. all event starters should now be based in the aftermath and during the celebrations, though you’re welcome to carry on all other convos ! i’ll make another post on the main when the event is coming to an end !

hello and welcome to the SEMI FINAL of the british & irish quidditch league cup ! tonight we are here to watch our welsh jewels, the holyhead harpies, battle it out with the unexpected irish champions, the kenmare kestrels for the chance to play on in the final game. the players have made their way to the pitch, and have already lined up - and with a whistle, the GAME BEGINS !
the quaffle is immediately passed from the harpies' chaser, glynis cadwaladr, to ginny weasley, gwenog's newest find - rian brophy of the kenmare kestrels intercepts, and the quaffle begins to move to the other side of the pitch-
gilly chatham comes dangerously close to bumphing with that smack of that bludger, but the ball narrowly avoids the stands - the quaffle is passed from rian brophy to tadhg o'neill, and the FIRST SCORE of the game is made - TEN POINTS to the kenmare kestrels !
[ option one was chosen by the group ]
eabhba mulrooney of the kenmare kestels suffers a BLOW from a bludger hit her way by gwenog jones, intended for aidan kiely. broom destroyed, she falls to the pitch below.
the quaffle is knocked from tadhg o'neils arms by ginny weasley, passed to alaw gwilym, and then to glynis cadwaladr ; the harpies chasers make their way down the pitch, and though síle joyce makes an attempt to knock them off course, ginny weasley scores. TEN POINTS to the harpies !
the kenmare kestrels are out for blood right now, and their keeper, fergal o'gorman, foils another attempt by ginny weasley to score. the quaffle makes it back to the kestrels hands.
is that the snitch? gisela ogden of the harpies races towards what might just be a flash of gold - but a bludger sent her way by niall keogh causes it to disappear again. both seekers circle above the pitch
tadhg o'neil of the kestrels manages to finesse the quaffle from alaw gwilym, and heads towards the harpies side of the pitch.
[ option one was chosen by the group ]
tadhg o'neil ( just coincidentally, eabha mulrooney's long time partner ), makes his way up the pitch and succeeds in scoring a REMARKABLE three goals, as greer hayhurst of the harpies - quite literally - drops the ball. this brings the score up to a WHOPPING forty points to the kenmare kestrels!
the quaffle is passed from alaw gwilym to glynis cadwaladr, both of the harpies. overhead, the seekers of both teams continue to circle - scanning the crowd for a telltale sign of gold.
gwenog jones dodges a bludger shot her way by niall keogh of the kestrels, and fires the other towards his team, yet again. it causes enough of a distraction amongst the kestrels chasers for the harpies to throw the quaffle towards the goal posts - with ginny landing a score through the central hoop. harpies stand at TWENTY points !
[ option one was chosen by the group ]
gwenog jones hits another bludger towards the kestrels keeper, fergal o'gorman, hoping to knock him off course ; it misses, and it hits alaw gwilym instead. the harpies are now a chaser down.
( gwenog jones is flipped off by her chaser, ginny weasley, for that horrible display of teamwork that went on. ) the quaffle passes quickly from ginny to glynis cadwaladr, with an attempt at an interception by rian brophy -
rian brophy and tadhg o'neil seem to conspire with one another in the seconds that it takes ginny and glynis to move along the pitch - they lower their trajectory and fly towards the two chasers, the obvious ATTEMPT at blatching either of them imminent.
[ random chooser decides that they succeed in fouling the harpies ]
[ random chooser decides that they succeed in fouling ginny ]
they succeed in fouling one of the harpies chasers - knocking ginny weasley off her broom, decided by another random chooser.
[ option two was chosen by the group ]
glynis cadwaladr, the harpies' only chaser at the current moment, is given three penalties for the foul committed by the kestrels. she manages to get all three past their keeper, fergal o'gorman, bringing the harpies to FIFTY points !
the quaffle is thrown back into the game, and the kestrels are off immediately - taking it from glynis and heading down the pitch. gwenog and greer, the harpies beaters, both attempt to intercept an oncoming goal with a bludger ;
[ random chooser decides that they do not succeed ]
they do not succed in intercepting the goal, bringing the kestrels up to fifty.
the quaffle passes between players, now, with the harpies outnumbered - glynis cadwaladr struggles to regain control of the ball, and the beaters on both sides are out to knock chasers off course, left right and center.
aidan kiely of the kestrels spots a flash of gold over the goal posts on his side of the field - gisela ogden of the harpies follows him as he shoots across the pitch, arm outstretched. this is the big one folks!
[ option two was chosen by the group ]
gisela ogden of the holyhead harpies finesses her way to the snitch - putting an end to the semi final game at 200 points to the holyhead harpies and fifty to the kenmare kestrels!
“uh, neville-” she loved him, she really did, and she understood that he was an affectionate friend who showed such feelings and others ( relief, for example ), with HUGS ; but one of her arms was currently immobilized because of the fractured scapula sustained during the match, and he hadn’t seemed to think about that before throwing his arms around her. “don’t be offended, but... ow?”
"bill?” a question, first ; maybe more than a hint of doubt at who she sees over the crowd, eyes following the other redheads form until she’s sure that it’s him - come to the game. come to see her. her heart soars. “bill, over here!” she calls, raising her good arm ( the one that isn’t currently being examined by an all too proddy medic ) to grab his attention, not caring about the tut of disapproval that comes from the elderly woman at her side. she’s already been told to stay still, and been told to rest ; but if it was hard to do either while celebrations raged outside of the medical tent, then it was even HARDER to do them now she’d spotted him. “you came!”
the quidditch semi finals event has now ended, and no new starters based during should be posted from this point onwards ! you are all MORE than welcome to continue all your ongoing one’s, however, and to reiterate what i said in the discord : i’m hoping to have at least an event a week for the next while, so don’t worry if you missed out this time !
