2016 me, first getting into haikyuu: awww tsukkiyama is so cute!! and daisuga, too! I don’t really get the appeal of kagehina, but to each their own!

2018: wait but iwaoi too, and asanoya, and bokuaka, and wait DO I ship kagehina?

2020: yeah I definitely ship kagehina. wait but also tsukihina, but I still ship tsukkiyama, and yamayachi’s super cute too, but also kiyoyachi- am I a multishipper??

2021: how did I not notice kyouhaba before?? and is that,,, yamahina,,, kuroyaku,,, asadai,,,,,,, is this what rarepair hell feels like

“You’ve gotta get up so we can go, you know.” Kenma’s voice is quiet in the space of the small bedroom, standing just next to where Yuu is spread out on the bed.

“I have become one with this bed. I cannot part ways with it now. I guess you’ll have to go on without me.”

“This was your idea, Yuu.”

Yuu groans into the pillow, the fabric soft and inviting under his cheek. Kenma pokes him in the leg, and then, when Yuu doesn’t respond, in the side, which makes him twitch desperately away. This whole thing was Yuu’s idea, but now, confronted with a warm bed on a cold day, he can’t help but to not want to go anywhere. He reaches an arm out and wraps it around Kenma’s waist, pulling him down onto the bed.

It’s easy to curl up around him, to tuck his nose against the back of Kenma’s neck, comfortable and secure, even as Kenma sighs at him. “You’re going to be upset later that we missed it.”

“We won’t. Just another few minutes like this.”

Kenma hums and rests his hands on Yuu’s arms wrapped around his body. “Only a few. Or we’ll be late.”

“Kay.” There’s really no place that Yuu would really rather be, then here with his lover, warm and comfortable, but he did make the plans, and Kenma went through all the effort to make sure they both got up to go, even when Yuu knows he’d rather spend all day in bed too.

He spends their last few quiet moments together thinking about how lucky he is, before pressing a soft kiss to the back of Kenma’s neck and squeezing him tight before pushing himself up in the bed. Kenma flops backward, hair splayed out on the mattress, a dark halo around his head, just barely golden at the ends, looking like the best thing that Yuu’s ever seen.

For a second more he considers not going out at all, content to stay here and marvel at this wonder in his life, and then a soft, shy smile settles on Kenma’s lips as he stares back up to Yuu.

And Yuu can’t help smiling back, wanting to follow that voice wherever it goes. Kenma pushes himself up, brushes a kiss to Yuu’s mouth before sliding off the bed, waiting. “Time to go?”

“Yeah. Time to go, love.”
