She’d saved him, the pirate who had the most piercing viridian eyes, the color of the coral and waves that were her home, despite the way the rest of her pod reacted. There had been fangs bared and long tense moments. ( they had come into a sacred cove, had sought to capture them, had sought to take their treasures, but Sara wouldn’t allow the slaughter her sisters and daughters demanded ) She had seen them disarmed, several of them had been killed, but the majority of his men had been treated with more humanity than most humans would have earned. ( except for those with the glib mouths, those she’d let her kin take down to the depths to feast upon and use the rest of them to feed their pets )
She smiled softly, observing him as she pulled herself from the waves on her own private beach, fin slowly dissolving as she separated herself from the water. Legs, human-seeming enough, led her towards his form secured further up the beach on hands and knees. “You were foolish,” she admonished, damp blond hair with bits of shine and shells, coral, and rarities, webbed throughout it hanging about her shoulders and offering only the barest bit of modesty for her prone form. “To try to covet from my people, but...” She laid next to him in the sand, unbothered by her appearance and unbothered by what threat he may pose, “I can tell behind those eyes lies a great mind, a thing worth protecting, and so rest assured, no harm will find you-- p i r a t e -- while you are here with me.”
