ELATAAN HEADCANON --------------- NA’LI THE HUOCONDO.

peter’s travels take him to a great many very different planets, all with their varying levels of life forms. he has seen a lot in his thirty years in space, and one day, while on a planet primarily of water / humid climate, he is greeted by a huocondo, a dog/reptilian/amphibian hybrid native to the planet. she’s only a pup, and her mother was seemingly killed or had abandoned her pup for whatever reason. peter had never really been much of an animal person ( in terms of pet owner ) besides skippy --- his childhood golden retriever, but something about the huocondo tugged at his heartstrings. he loved all things living, and the poor thing wouldn’t stop following him, even though he tried to shoo her. she followed him with a newfound but FIERCE loyalty, so he decided to take her on board with him and name her NA’LI. he aided in rocket’s help, and they built something in peter’s room that acts as a place where na’li can keep her skin from drying out ( her skin is like a mixture between snake scales / but is also soft like velvet? ).

SOME BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT NA’LI / HUOCONDO.

na’li is about the size of an average pitbull --- she’s probably 45 pounds but really light -- it’s not too difficult to pick her up. her appearance is a mixture of the things above. her spikes and coloring like that of the bottom left photograph, but her face is more like that of the top and bottom right. her tail is much like the bottom left photo and top right photo. it’s also webbed, as is her feet -------- she’s an exceptional swimmer, but doesn’t have gills. she can survive on land with ease. she’s quick, limber, and quick. instead of one set of eyes, she’s got two, with the set above her main ones being slightly smaller. the spikes that trail her spine are actually not naturally sharp / dangerous and can be bent and stuff, but when she’s stressed / fighting, they stiffen up and become sharp. na’li in particular has one sharp canine on her bottom right that sticks out of her mouth, and her tongue sticks out a lot. she’s got feelers like in the top right photo that shoot from her eyebrows that act as like another sense, and can sense vibrations in the air that cause her to read the surrounding area. she knows when things are gonna happen before they do because she can read the mood of the air ( can tell when danger is close or s/t ) she has two rows of teeth but dull claws that aren’t really meant for use.

she’s SUPER affectionate and super incredibly loyal. she will never ever leave peter’s side, as he saved her from certain death and will protect him with her life. she doesn’t attack unless commanded to or she thinks peter might be in danger, and since she can read the situation with her feelers, most of the time she’s not wrong. she’s also stubborn as heck and looks super heckin’ cute begging for food! her bark kinda echos? if that makes sense. there’s like a two tone to it that can freak out enemies if she’s trying to be fierce enough.

her life expectancy is unknown to peter, but huocondo’s average life span is about 20 years. peter found na’li when she was only a couple of months old. huocondo’s are not aggressive by nature and why they are so often see as prey rather than predators. whether that’s to other creatures or humanoid beings, it doesn’t matter. a lot of people use huocondo skins for armour, as the fur protects them from the cold and the scales underneath are hard and impenetrable. they’re actually native to several of the more humid / rain-forest type planets or planets with an abundance of water.

male huocondo’s average weight is about 80 pounds. female is 60. na’li is just smol.

average litter size is about 3-7 pups. males take care of the pups while the females hunt, as the females hunt better. males are usually more affectionate. na’li, again, is a rarity for her breed.

when na’li is happy, she purrs like a cross between a cat and a chittering bird! sort of like a fox but quieter?
