GALTx eNews: Join Us At The North Texas Irish Festival

It's time for one of our favorite annual events again and we can't wait to see you there. Get your green on and come see us at the 42nd annual North Texas Irish Festival! We are proud to show off our hounds and to give out free hound kisses to all takers!

Given the rich history of Greyhounds in Ireland, GALT will be one of only a few dog groups with a booth located in the Cultural area in Centennial Hall. Please stop by and visit us on Saturday, March 2, 10:30 to 5:00, and Sunday, March 3, 2024, 11:30 to 5:00. For event tickets and more information click here.

We still need volunteers from the clan Greyhound to help us make the most of our time at the festival, including ambassadog escorts who will bring their own well behaved adopted hound or foster hound to greet guests, Greyhound advocates to answer questions about the breed and adoption, and free hands to help set up or tear down our booth. Tarot update!

I only have 12 more sketches to do than all cards are in progress. Though I spent this week getting more painting and inking done finishing 3 cards this week and having 3 more to be inked for next week.

I dont know how large the updates are going to be coming up I'm hoping to get 2 updates worth of work done this week because I'm going to be working the North Texas Irish Festival coming up and I have a hopeful job interview coming up so updates might not be as large but I'm pushing to get this ball rolling cause I'm getting close.

GALTx eNews: And The Winner Is…

GALT has participated in the North Texas Irish Festival (NTIF) every year since 2002. Over those 18 years, we have won awards for our booth decoration several times: three times we won second places and three times we won third place. This year, we won first place for the very first time! We can’t thank our hard working volunteers enough for their time and effort. Those of us who spend time at events like this know that an expertly designed booth attracts attention and gets more visitors to meet the hounds. Click here to see additional photos from the event. Sometimes the benefits that come from attending events like this and devoting so much effort to the quality of our booth are not immediately obvious. People who didn’t even know we would be there come by and maybe ask a question or two before moving on. However, the one thing we know for certain from our years of experience is that, at events like NTIF, we reach people, lots of people. And some of the people we reach go on to adopt, donate, volunteer, foster, or help the hounds in other ways. Maybe not right away. Sometimes life takes its time, but the benefits to the hounds from the dedication of our NTIF volunteers over the years are immeasurable. Thank you! 

We plan to attend the event again next year and hope to see you there, either as a volunteer or a guest. When we work together, the hounds always win! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

GALTx eNews: Go Green For The Greys!

GALT is thrilled to once again be representing Greyhounds at the North Texas Irish Festival at Fair Park in Dallas! We hope you will join us on March 7th and 8th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm! Because of the Greyhound's Celtic connection, GALT will be featured in our usual location in the cultural area of Centennial Hall and will be offering t-shirts, collars and shamrocks for sale. Come visit Clan Greyhound! In addition to Greyhounds, this event offers a full weekend of music, dance, and entertainment, including a large kids area and rides as well as lots of food and beverages. The festival also features 13 stages with continuous music and dance and horse demonstrations as well as artisan food samplings. "The North Texas Irish Festival is a celebration of all things Celtic." Weekend passes and tickets for individual days are available on the North Texas Irish Festival website.   As always, our success depends on the support of our volunteers. We could use a hand decorating and setting up our booth on Friday afternoon, working as breed ambassadors during the event, and packing up on Sunday afternoon.  Ambassadors are encouraged to bring well-behaved fosters or personal hounds to the event. GALTx eNews: Introducing the Irish Chieftains of Clan Greyhound!

The North Texas Irish Festival (NTIF) is just around the corner and GALT's Clan Greyhound will be there on Saturday, March 4th, and Sunday, March 5th, 2017, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm! We will showcase hounds available for adoption and answer all of your greyhound questions! Look for us in the cultural area of Centennial Hall in Fair Park, at 1001 Washington Street, Dallas.  

Please join us to welcome the new Irish Chieftains of Clan Greyhound! That's right - two Irish greyhounds, Ned and Rolo, just joined GALT this week after a long trip from A Grey's Home in Belgium! In their honor, we will display the history of Irish greyhounds, prominently featuring gorgeous framed portraits of GALT greyhounds by Shagly Pet Photography! For you to take home as souvenirs, we are selling notecards with these amazing images (six for only $10, including envelope) as well as Clan Greyhound t-shirts, hats and collars. All the proceeds, of course, benefit the GALT clan.

Attendance at the North Texas Irish Festival is limited, so please be sure to buy your tickets today on the event's website! NTIF is offering great early bird discounts! The event is one of the most dog friendly events in Dallas! So, plan on bringing your adopted or foster GALT hound by our booth (on leash) to see us! GALTx eNews: Join Us Virtually At The North Texas Irish Festival!

We are so proud to have participated in the North Texas Irish Festival in the Cultural Building for the last 19 years. Our booth has won first, second and third place awards for the Best Cultural Display in seven of those years, including a first place award just last year. We always feature a literal and pictorial display of Master McGrath, Ireland's Top coursing dog born in 1866. Click here to see photos from 2020 and here for photos from 2019.

This year will be different. We will miss seeing all our friends who usually visit the booth. In the past we have sold raffle tickets for gift cards, live shamrocks, martingale dog collars, and many other items to raise money for the hounds. Because of the pandemic and social distancing, we can't be there in person. So this year, we are asking you to support our Irish tradition and the GALT greyhounds by visiting our NTIF virtual booth and making a donation to The Dr. E. Kelly Nitsche Veterinary Care Fund (formerly, The Miss Mesa Fund). Please also do some shopping at the GreytStore, like you would have done at our in person booth. Just in time for our celebration, we received a new supply of fleece coats by Molly Jelic in fabulous prints that include reflective ribbon stripes for added safety on those early morning or evening walks. Molly's coats sell out fast and we likely won't receive more this season. We also have a limited supply of greyhound themed face masks, martingale collars, greyhound pajamas, Susan Lewis fabric art, designer scarves, and many other items available.

GALT depends solely on donations and net proceeds from the GreytStore for its operating budget of more than $650,000 per year and is proud to be included in the 2021 Virtual North Texas Irish Festival tomorrow, March 6th, 2021!
