Babymoon Part 2: Juneau, Alaska
Positives: Touring an underground gold mine, learning about mining in the area, biking around Mendenhall Glacier and walking out to Nugget falls. Then, did a beer tasting (Alyssa) at Alaskan Brewery.
Challenge: Not seeing any bears on our bike ride:( But we did see a porcupine! We had a long day off the boat in Juneau and tried to make the most of it.
Best meal of the day: Breakfast in the dining room, Lindsay loved her banana bread French toast crusted w oatmeal. Also, we did not get any Alaska King Crab legs but we watched them making them at Tracy’s crab shack and they looked awesome (but were very $$)!
Fact of the day: Juneau is the capital of Alaska. It is only accessible by boat or plane. Gold prospectors came to (“and discovered”) Juneau around 1880. Juneau has 3 of the worlds largest gold mines, 2 still operate today.
What made us smile: The Alaska Show at night on the ship w accompanying classical music, Music Trivia and panning for Gold! The elephant towel in our stateroom.
