The Spiritual Meaning of Numbers
The title says it all. Until this very moment, I have always thought numbers are just an invention of people. Someone once wanted to put a timeframe on a year or start counting days or measuring feet or counting how many people stand in his/her way of getting into power. Or keeping count of how many mooses have you eaten this week. Although, today I read this lovely summary of the spiritual meaning of numbers and found out that numbers actually are spirited, they have a soul, for example number two is at the same time conflicted and balanced. I mean how odd is that? Being at the same time conflicted and balanced. I thought only humans can be this way.
So apparently number two once in a while comes alive and calls us out to unite with like-minds!
This all made me indeed very sceptical so I looked into it deeper. Where do these spiritual meanings of numbers come from? Where do numbers come from? The history of numbers?
As it turns out numbers as such were invented by an Indian astrologist in 500BCE. They didnt travel to Europe not until the 12th century. So apparently the numbers were invented by the planets in the universe – 9 planets, 9 numbers. The zero wasn’t added until later and was not accepted in most of the civilizations. In addition, every planet has their own number, their own sign to rule over, their own element, day of the week and also a symbol. How and when were they connected to each other, I haven’t found out yet. Seems like internet is full of signs, numbers and their planets, spiritual meanings of numbers, but I find it very difficult to find an article about how they are all connected, and why? It seems really weird, odd and pointless for me to give a word / system(number) that some astrologist evented in 500BCE to keep track of accounting and to build an accurate measuring system, so much credit and metaphorical meaning. I mean, it does not make any sense that if on the 7. of July I pay 7 pounds for a meal and go off the bus the 7th stop, then immediately I should “search for esoteric” meanings and immediately my imagination will be activated. Or if I am born on the 2. day on some month I am immediately kind, balanced and tactical.
I cannot put my head around this. These characteristics should come with genes, life and experiences – knowledge. Somehow this all seems a brilliant tactic to manipulate with people, to make them buy and do stuff they don’t want or need. Makes me think of estate agents. Yes, estate agents.
