the yellow-billed nunbird is a near-passerine bird (member of the puffbird family) that is sooty black overall, with a white shoulder patch and namesake yellow bill. they are found in bolivia, brazil, colombia, ecuador, and peru. they prefer somewhat open landscapes such as transitional forest, and regenerating clearings who still have somewhat sparse foliage. it’s believed that their diet consists mainly of insects, like other nunbirds.
