People think we renounce the world. We don't. We renounce its ways but we are still very much in it and it is very much in us.

Oh, to be a lesbian nun in 1536. I had a wonderful time at the larp Alma Mater, and I needed to create a piece to deal with my bleed. Confessions underneath the moonlight. Many feelings. Many tears.

I'll never forget the time where we were discussing munks and nuns in the classroom, and someone said something about some nuns they knew who owned a smart tv and watched sports on it. I said that couldn't be true cause nuns don't watch TV.
Before I could continue, someone immediately laughed at me and accused me of being prejudiced. I had to explain nuns' vow or poverty to that classmate, but they didn't believe me until our teacher confirmed what I said.
I don't know if the vow of poverty has changed in modern day, but the vow of poverty was a pretty strong part of nun culture many years ago.
I don't have any particular punchline to this post. Just that maybe sometimes you shouldn't accuse people of prejudice without having some base knowledge about the subject yourself.
I'm by no means an expert, but I think the vow of poverty is fairly well-known, isn't it?
