There's a giant box of a lego set in front of Lee's door. There's no letter with it. Just a little note that says: "Have fun — 10/10"

He nearly stumbles over the Lego set when he bursts out of the door — it’s still dark out, and it’s huge! Lee has to bring it back in to study it, and he finds the sticky note right on the top of the box.

“Amazing,” He breathes out in excitement as he realises that the set has exactly the kind of pieces he’d been rambling to Tenten about a couple of weeks ago. 

His morning workout will have to be postponed; he must go to see Tenten immediately! Her apartment isn’t far, but he still trips over his own feet in his urgency to get there, the sticky note clutched in his hand like a justification for his early morning presence. Descending in a crouch upon her windowsill, Lee clings to the lintel above.

“Tenten, Tenten, Tenten!” Lee calls to her all too loudly for five-thirty in the morning, rapping his knuckles twice on the glass between every iteration. “Tenten, Tenten!”

When she finally opens her window, Lee slips in and thrusts the sticky note in her face, standing back straight, bangs-perfect, eyes wide and serious. “Thank you! But, what about your electricity bills? I know that this Lego set must have been astronomically expensive!”

I would try to figure out where to start but as I know myself things will get chaotic anyway, so this is where I start: I LOVE how chaotic and loud your Gai always is and still he finds moments to be serious and calm. I know you always say he's stupid but it's still so interesting to see the moments when he's actually smart. Maybe not exactly book smart but emotionally. Even if he doesn't really understands it himself. Something that makes it actually even better. He doesn't know why things he did helped, but he knows they did helped and that is enough. He somehow always knows what to say and when... or not but he does it anyway. As I said: He's just so chaotic and I love him for that. But what I love the most about your Gai is, that he's not just a comic relief. I already told you that, but I always felt Gai in canon was mostly wasted for giggles and laughs. Sure he had his epic moments but he was mostly this, there for some comedy. You manage to give this some kind of balance so that he feels like an actual person with feelingd and thoughts etc. and not just a joke. Aaaaand I also love how you always show how much he cares for others but also show that good intentions do not always translate into good execution. He's flawed, yes, but he's still good. And another thing I told you, I love that your Gai is not so fixated on Lee, that you show there are also other people in his life, who he loves just as much. Sometimes I feel people forget that Gai also has other people he cares for, not just Lee. But you don't!

it makes me SWOON to know that yall see the bit of “good intentions do not always translate into good execution”.

i think it’s extra tasty that a lot of the times his “good intentions” are often not really that “good” (does anyone really have good intentions?); maybe they just happen to align with what seems desirable and noble and kind. but he’s well-meaning most times i think, or at least what well-meaning means to him 🥰🙂‍↕️

and yes he’s used a lot for comic relief but he’s also the Mentally Unwell and self-obsessed person (aren’t we all) and it brings me greeeaaat joy to chew on that on main. and of course all the cute and wholesome moments in between that insist to us that … there’s beauty in the imperfections and there’s something to show for all that striving 🥺]

"Yeah, no I agree with the stranger, Sensei... you are crazy. But if you really want to know, well..." Tenten grins and pulls her scroll out in which she hes her medi-kit sealed in.

"Your intentions are kind, my dear pupil, but first aid on the field is something I am rather familiar with receiving. It certainly does stir my spirit, recalling adrenaline-pumped occasions where my life was placed in the hands of my trustworthy comrades!"
