what being a nurse during covid-19 feels like...
i’m literally so scared of going to work. what is going to happen if one of the residents gets tested for covid-19 and the results come back positive? what is going to happen if the staff catches covid-19? we already work 7 hours a day, 12 days in a row, 2 days as a break. if this whole thing gets worse we’ll have to work 12 hours a day STILL for 12 days in a row. there’s been a change in the law, we’re not allowed to be quarantined for 14 days, we’ll have to come back to work after just 7 days, if we catch covid-19 we’ll still have to work as long as we don’t show symptoms like a fever (we don’t have ffp3 masks by the way, just normal face masks because people that literally don’t need them got themselves unbelievable amounts to hoard) and last but not least if we’re extremely understaffed it’s legal. it’ll be legal that maybe just two nurses will have to care for 80 residents in the same way we would usually do with full staff (7-9 nurses per shift). my life consists of constant panic right now, we cry at work because we can’t handle what’s going on right now, we don’t get to take a break and it’s just getting worse, crisis is reaching its peak and we have no way out.
