This bag of Lemonheads states on the label that it's fat free. The nutrition label also says 0g of fat. So no fat, right?
Wrong. The ingredients, as well as containing shellac, state that it has a "trivial amount of fat."
What sickens me about this is how Lemonheads write this off as a trivial amount, basically saying it's so small it doesn't matter. If it's so small it doesn't make a difference, why didn't you write that on the front? Or in the nutrition label? Directly lying about it makes me untrusting that it really IS just a trivial amount, or if there's other things in these candies we don't know about.
The next thing that annoys me is how this is the only asterisk in the whole package. there's no connecting link anywhere else, making it so that you can only find the tiny writing in the middle of a slur of chemical names if you were specifically looking for it.
Lemonheads is directly lying in order for their product to be sold in the belief that there is no sugar. In fact, but not surprisingly, many companies do this to sell their products to vegetarian/vegan, gluten free, and lactose free people.
Companies lying and putting people in danger needs to stop. We need truthful packaging, and we need accurate percent daily values on sugars (if you notice, a % DV will almost never be found next to sugars in nutrition labels, or it will be displayed as 0%. It is almost always over 100%)
Stop lying to and endangering people/children so your product sells better.
this has been a psa
