What I want Katy Perry to know.
When I was a little girl Katy Perry was my icon. I would listen to her music nonstop blasting full volume and think about how inspiring it was for her to be against social and gender norms and be so brave to put herself out like she did. I even listened to her throughout middle school and high school.
But Katy Perry, you seem to think you have some entitlement the other people don't. You seem to think that you can invade space and assault people and young boys without their permission and get away with it because of your gender, your position, and your fame.
You need to understand that these are not things anyone can do. And you will see out there people saying that if the roles were reversed and a 30 something year old man had sexually assaulted a 19 year old girl that he would be fired and punished and hated. I don't like this because I don't think it matters whether the roles are switched.
Either way, whether man or woman, you should be punished. You cannot use your fame to take away some thing like a first kiss, something he cherished, from a 19 year old boy in front of millions of people without his consent. You can not go up to and grab a boys ass who is a fraction of your age. And you cannot expect to get away with it
Katy Perry, as a fan of a decade, someone who has loved your music her whole life and stuck up for you when others didn't, I have one thing I need you to know.
You are the worst kind of monster.
Sincerely, a heart broken little girl.
