Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 cup granulated sugar. 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. 1 tsp baking soda. 1/2 tsp salt. 1 cup water. 1/3 cup vegetable oil. 1 tsp white vinegar. 1 tsp vanilla extract. 1/2 cup chopped nuts e.g., walnuts or pecans. 1/4 cup chocolate chips optional.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. Grease an 8-inch square baking pan. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the water, vegetable oil, white vinegar, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until the batter is smooth. Fold in the chopped nuts and chocolate chips, if using. Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. After cooling slightly, cut the cake into squares, serve, and enjoy!
