Has anyone else been unable to complete a Nuzlocke?

I tried my first Nuzlocke a few weeks ago with White. At first I was having a terrible time and lost like 3 Pokemon only to find out that ‘no healing in battle’ is not an actual rule. Then I lost two more and ragequit. I started another Nuzlocke yesterday on Diamond and lost my Piplup during the first gym. I couldn’t bear to give up my starter so I quit again. Has anyone else had this problem or do I just completely fucking suck?
