Dust does enjoy one thing about horror and it’s his music. He figured out if he complains about the songs he likes during his torture sessions Horror plays them more frequently.

“No Horror.. don’t play bullet with butterfly wings.. 50 more times..”

I guess he’d act more convincingly by screaming for him to turn it off.

The idea of horror listening to the smiths is funny to me. Atrophy would like the smiths, that’s probably the way horror found that song.

But yeah I can see horror taking the ends looping sounds - splicing them and repeating them on speaker for dust.

Anyways onto the question there’s plenty of ways he’s tortured. Horror just has fun with it really. The more he learns about dusts specific timeline the more personally intimate it is though.

I think horror likes burning him alive, that’s probably the most common method as it’s actually how they met each-other. That’s a long story but it’s “sentimental” to horror to chain him up and pour gasoline onto his bare body

A fact about dust is the way he successfully won his timeline is he managed to create a chemical that basically rapidly heals you. Not in the determination way where it rapidly melts and creates new cells. He managed to use other human soul substances (kindness mostly) to be able to survive a battle with the player.

But- the aftermath of that is horror can literally do anything to him now and he will just regrow. Dusts invention is now a curse. So it’s not uncommon for horror to remove limbs, break his teeth in, carve out his ecto body and dust to be able to fully recover like 3 hours after.

The stuff you see at the beginning of nightwatch is just typical gore torture. But to the end of dusts stay at the house (as I said before when horror gains more knowledge on dust)- I think it gets more interesting.

For example Dust is actually terrified of looping sounds and noises (Mostly because of his experience with repeating failed timelines). There’s this one later scene where horror puts him in a room wall to wall covered in clocks and alarms all blaring at once for hours. Rarely the torture ever gets to Dust but i make him break down a little in this scene. Funnily it’s the least physical torture you see but his weak spot really is anything that has to do with repetition.

I think the torture in the second act is way more interesting than the first.. but I think the basic torture dust goes through sets a basic bar

Killer is my neglected child

It’s not that there isn’t any lore of him I just think I somehow never talk about the guy in posts. Does anyone want to know about killer?

Just a side fact about the names.,, killer isn’t called “killer” until horror gains the ability to read code (from his host occultism)

He’s usually just called the cat thing, kitty, the thing, leaky

Dust chooses to name himself dust because he thinks it’s awesome- he will probably still reply to the name sans though. Horror learns his name when he first becomes a host cultist.

That’s a thing with worship, for the host, creation, the atomized- breaking reality is like a fundamental to being initiated. For host worshipers it’s learning the true name of your timeline/au. Horror just took on that name because “sans” is pretty far away from himself as an identity

Look at me rambling about horror. Back to killer..

I think he’s interesting because he is really ok with what’s happening to him. Killer meeting Horror is very close to how Horror met Atrophy. Just in this scenario horror isn’t as…kind and nurturing to killer as Atrophy was.

Killer did beg horror to take him though. Perhaps old posts contradict this statement but in my most recent version I have written- killer asked for horror to just do what he wants with him. Killer has to deal with the fact that he’s immortal now, immortal and ridden with the guilt of being forced to kill everyone repeatedly.

In away it’s an escape to be turned into a machine. He sees himself no more than livestock really. Horror I guess appreciates his corporation. That he doesn’t fight back or really do anything at all.

He doesn’t have to worry about his stages in this form either because his determination is constantly regulated and reduced with his vein pumps. He’s usually kept in a low stage because of this.

It’s really easy to just give up and be nothing at all, even if it’s consistently painful it’s blissful in the day to day simplicity of being an object.

I could go on about how he’s supposed to reflect Psychs experience being a blood machine but blah I probably said to much already.

if this is spoilers territory you can just leave this ask alone or not answer these questions but i am curious abt killer. if he’s just kind of ok with his situation how does he react when he gets out? does dust get him out? does he ever try to go back?

This is spoilers but I kinda say too many spoilers already,,

As it is now in my writing I don’t think killer wants to be saved. If he is to be taken out it would be without his consent. He’s “comfortable” in this position under horrors grasp.

Leaving won’t fix things immediately with killer, Infact it’ll be very difficult. I think killer would just be betting on horror and atrophy’s multiverse destruction plan to go through so he won’t have to live another year.

By the time he’s taken out killers magical abilities would have been greatly altered by that point which I won’t spoil because that’s apart of horrors plan. It’d be even harder to go to the omegatimeline and just see hundreds of thousands of faces of people you’ve killed.

I think he’d have to rebuild his identity from square one. It was already destroyed by the player when he was rewritten and just totally blurred by his mindless torture in the house. I plan for him to actually take on the name “Stray” instead of Killer

Killers arc in the omegatimeline is supposed to be a direct comparison to the beginning of memory’s development in the OT. She has no idea who she is when she is made, she has no motivation to explore it but somehow manages to develop some semblance of self. I hope Stray is able to do that.. we will see

As for Dust I can say for certain he’s the most determined to get killer out of there. Dust is clingy to killer it’s annoying kinda..

Oh and no by the time killer gets out there will be- no actual way he could go back to the mansion lol. Things really take a cosmic turn let’s just say

Don’t worry I don’t mind explaining.

The general thing with Nightwatch is killer and dust are food for Atrophy. Atrophy sits his ass upstairs and when it’s meal time horror inflicts pain to feed him. Atrophy’s only a floorboard up from them so he gets to eat without even seeing his food.

Killer functions as snacks in between big meal times because his constant blood pumping is consistently excruciating. Alternatively Dust is tortured more extremely at breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday.

Dusts torture works as proper meals, killers is like a consistent snack tray always beside you. There’s downsides to both: Dust gets breaks at least but his abuse is more extreme- killers is less intense but he has consistent pain

On killer specifically horror is using him to research the host god (god of entertainment). Killer has a player who occasionally possesses him, watching everything that happens. Players are a pretty big deal to host cultists- usually referred to as angels. Horror learning about the host is integral to his and Atrophy’s plan to cause the end of the utmv. So killer holding a deity inside himself being studied up close in captivity is important.

The determination pumping is mostly just to keep killer at bay with his stages and reduce the influence the player could have over killer if it ever were to intervene. It’s also painful obviously so it works as food for atrophy.

The excess liquid is a byproduct they don’t need…but atrophy does like drinking it as wine. For some reason he’s actually able to get drunk on it because of the extreme chemical content. So horror just serves it to him. I don’t think atrophy knows it isn’t alcohol.. he can’t taste it anyways.. and he really just trusts horror.

That’s all the uses for killer that comes to mind. I hope that’s useful.

Ok I’ll answer this because I didn’t say anything for his gender

I actually think he’d identify as a nonhuman/non monster

In nightwatch soulless creatures (objects and animals) are actually considered seperate to soulful creatures like humans and monsters. In that Dust would relate to the most disposable and uncared for class and basically associate his gender and species with the soulless (rats specifically)

(I have some interesting world building for that but I won’t waste this ask blabbing about it)

Pronoun wise probs likes he/they/it. I don’t know if theres a rat gender flag. But he has that and would probably design it and it’d be very ugly and he’d like it that way
