Haru had been at the firm for a few months now and apparently fitting in quite well work-wise. But when it came to personal relationships, it seems he still had a hard time communicating with others.
Thankfully, Makoto had no problem getting along with him. Although their first meeting as boss and subordinate was definitely a little shaky at first -- no thanks to the brunet’s occasional aloofness and subsequent tardiness -- it seemed that he was the only person who could truly understand what Haru was thinking. Soon enough, they were successfully working many projects together, and Makoto easily became fond of the stoic man. Maybe a little too fond.
They were the last two people at the office now, working overtime in an attempt to finish their most recent project on time, when the unexpected happened.
It was nearly midnight, and they were almost finished, when Makoto headed to the office printer in order to print the final documents. Haru was already there, finishing the prints of the section he was assigned to when the brunet approaches with a smile. He is about to congratulate the other on the hard work when -- -
It may have been the exhaustion, or his typical clumsiness -- either way, somehow, his foot gets caught on an invisible snag on the floor and he quickly loses his balance. He feels himself falling, and in a panic he instantly shoots his hands out in front of him to break the fall and shuts his eyes in preparation for impact.
Except, there is no impact.
Realizing that he’s still standing, albeit now with sore hands, he slowly opens his eyes and finds himself face-to-face with bright blue eyes. It seems in his attempt to stabilize himself, coupled with the forward-momentum of the fall, he had managed to catch himself on the printer. Though, in turn, he ended up pinning Haru in between with his back up against the printer -- leaving the poor man trapped with Makoto’s arms at each side.
The brunet opens his mouth to apologize in a flustered frenzy, but suddenly stops as he looks at Haru’s face. Those blue eyes are captivating, already posing a silent question of concern and confusion, and he can’t bring himself to look away. His heartbeat is becoming louder and louder by the second, eyes focused on the other’s face, raven hair, small mouth, soft lips...
The sudden voice pulls his attention back, but it’s not at all what he expected to hear.
“... I don’t think you understand... what I want to do...”
he mutters, eyes serious but searching. Searching for something, anything, in those sea-blue eyes.
Makoto was about to risk it all. Risk their work relationship, their friendship... and Haru was encouraging him. He couldn’t ruin their relationship. Couldn’t take advantage of Haru in such a vulnerable situation.
“... I-I’m sorry, Haru, I... I think I’m just tired.”
