The Fall season means new art exhibit openings in NYC, and I've already begun making my list of must-see exhibits. Included in that list is Nigerian (Igbo) artist Ifeoma Anyaeji whose exhibit titled "Nzuko Umuada (Meeting of the Many Daughters)," is opening September 14 at the Skoto Gallery in Chelsea. Anyaeji's work uses unconventional art techniques and mediums like "threading," a form of Nigerian hair braiding, and discarded plastic bags, to explore themes of fashion, traditional folklore and the environment. Learn more about Anyaeji and her work at www.ifeomaanyaeji.com and check out her exhibit from September 14 - October 21 • • • #ifeomaanyaeji #nigerianartist #igboartists #plastoart #upcycling threading #nigerianhairbraiding #skotogallery #nycartexhibit #nzukoumuada #meetingofthemanydaughters #africanart #blackcontemporaryart #blackgirlmagic #africangirlmagic (at Skoto Gallery)
