How to Sew an Infinity Nikki Cloak for Your Plushies
Here you will find a free cloak pattern based on the Version 1.11 Encore Season team cloaks. The word pattern is used very loosely because my drawings are more casual but they can be found in this drive folder. It is sized for Letter-sized paper. The first image is the head piece, the second the cloak part and the third the linings for the ear and shoulder slits respectively. Please note that this is for personal use only.
Some of the instructions are in the ALT text.
I apologise for any mistakes. I was trying to get this one out before I lost motivation.
Studying the cloak and adjustments
For best results, a mock-up is recommended to ensure the cloak fits your plush properly. Pick something cheap and easy to use(not slippery/stretchy/easily frayed). In theory, the fabric should be similar in feel to the final fabric you want to use, but I’m just going to use brown cotton here.
Preparing pattern pieces and sewing
Adding the side/shoulder slits
This video by @/sewbakemake(tiktok) explains it well
Back Slit
Press the seam between the two cloak pieces. Hem each raw edge.
Bottom Edge of cloak
I did a rolled hem but it might be easier to just encase it in bias tape.
Ear Slits (Optional)
Use the same technique for what you did with the side slits.
Press the seams of the ear slit and also between the two head pieces.
Finishing
Join the two parts at the neck(shorter curve on the cloak piece to the bottom of the head piece. Iron seams. Serge any raw edges, fold edge into wrong side and sew.
Video by @/sewanastasia (youtube) on using a sewing machine instead of serger (can be done by hand too though)
Ties for neck
If using a premade ribbon get one of 1.5cm, if manually sewing ties, measure a width of about 2cm(since you have to turn it inside out after). Ties were sewn about 2cm down from the neck seam. My buttons were about 2.2cm in diameter and sewn on after the ties.
Cheers! You have successfully finished your cloak!
If you do make one please send me some pics so I can see too!
To clean and colour. (Give me a moment. It's been so long since I last drew something that I think I actually forgot how to draw for the first few test runs for this)
