The costume and the books (by Kudirka and Maironis) in their hands are referring to the Lithuanian book smugglers. February 16 celebrates the restoration of independent Lithuania, and the contribution of the book smugglers is extremely precious for the restoration. The Lithuanian language does not exist for granted. Many people risked their lives to make Lithuanian language survive.

The reason I love the story about book smugglers is that my grandpa was also a book smuggler and keeper during the cultural revolution. I think it is meaningful to remember the importance of language and people who protected it.
