Today, I learned that John Hertzler (known professionally as J.G. Hertzler) was recently elected to the Town Board of Ulysses, NY (a small town near my hometown of Ithaca). Hertzler is on the Cornell University theater and film faculty, and is perhaps best known as an actor for playing FREAKING GENERAL MARTOK ON DEEP SPACE NINE.
Ulysses Town Council is a pretty big demotion from Chancellor of the Klingon Empire, if you ask me. But Hertzler is staunchly anti-fracking, so that's okay with me.

Friends, same-sex marriage is not yet legal in New York; it passed in the state assembly, but still needs a Senate vote to be approved. If you know people who live in NY state, have them call their state senators to express their support of same-sex marriage!
