Derek enters The Academy for NYS Corrections today. He has to be in Albany by 4:00pm. He lives there Monday - Friday and can come home Friday night until Sunday afternoon then he has to be back by a certain time on Sunday. He can't have his cell phone or any electronics so I can't talk to him for 5 days and then MAYBE I'll get to see him for a little while on the weekends IF my work schedule permits since I work EVERY. FREAKING. WEEKEND. I already miss him, but I know this is to better himself and our future. He's going to have to work harder than he's ever done before in order to graduate, but if he does, he'll be a NYS Corrections Officer which is a difficult job, but has a lot of positive benefits (salary, health insurance, full retirement, etc.)... This is what he wants and if not talking for a few days and only seeing each other for a little while on the weekends is what we have to do for 8-10 weeks then we'll get through it... Still doesn't make me miss him any less though.
