Pakistani Mock Wedding
There is a special feeling when you know you are building on a tradition. Some traditions have millennia of history, some decades and some just a year. The later is the case of the Mock Wedding organized by the Pakistani Student Association. Last year was for the fist time and this year it came back with a even bigger and more inclusive performances.

Open Mic
The NYU Abu Dhabi Music Society organizes monthly an “Open Mic” event. Students, professors and staff members are welcomed to get together to play and listen.
This time, however, Open Mic became a musical celebration in a lovely Thursday evening. It was slowly that people joined this performance, one took over the piano, other took over the cajon box, another one the tambourine and beautiful voices started to convince and mix all short of song into a non-stop score.

Rain in the Desert!
Yes! Believe or not there was a storm in the desert. The heavy wind and the strong winds made the Emirates be paralyzed including the cancelation of classes. So what did we do instead? We went out and let the rain pour on ourselves, one does not enjoy see rain in the desert often enough! :)

Overnight Desert Camping
It is surprising how rare the opportunities to enjoy the desert are for us, even living in Abu Dhabi. So you can image how of a wonderful time we had this Thursday night.
We left campus early in the evening, and slowly made our away through the sand to the Jaima. There we enjoyed getting our hands covered in henna, climbed up and rolled down the dunes, rode camels and watch a traditional belly dance performance.
As the night fell and the sand got cold we gathered around the bonfire, played music and roasted marshmallows. There was very little intention for anyone to go to bed.

Spring Break in Chengdu
Although Spring Break is now over, the memories of the few days spent in Chengdu (Sichuan Province, China) are still vivid. NYUAD Global Education organized a class trip for the Chinese Department students with the objective of practicing Chinese and immersing into the culture.
It was a wonderful trip in which were exposed to a wide variety of activities and information that with no doubt gave us a very informative, fun and interesting overview on what life in Chengdu is like. We saw pandas, hiked up the mountains, met some local university students, ate the yummiest local street food, learned to play mahjong, attempt to learn the local Sichuan dialect …
We all had a wonderful time together that gave us the opportunity to get to know China: a fascinating country that will never stop surprising any visitor.
