PETROGLYPH OF "O COTO"
This is the petroglyph I referred to in a previous post. It's located in a place named O Coto, in the municipality of Punxín, province of Ourense. There are two styles of galician Bronze Age petroglyphs: the representational, wich depict hunting and war scenes, and the geometrical like this one.
First I had to remove all the moss with a wood pick to avoid damaging the surface and then clean it by gently brushing with a pH neutral detergent wich is also a biocide, to prevent further moss and lichen growth.
It was hard work because it took a lot of hours, but also because of the location. I couldn't get my car near the petroglyph, so I had to walk 2 km uphill carrying my gear (including the ladder to reach the top) and spend the whole day by the rock. It was also a lot of time alone in the country, sometimes with bad weather... but I kind of enjoy that contact with nature now and then.
